My hometown Shenzhen, China
My hometown is Shenzhen, China. It has been the best place in my whole life because I have spent the larger part of my life there. The only reason for me leaving my hometown is education, which happened in the year 2013 when I migrated to San Francisco, California, in the United States to finish my high school education. Since then, I have spent all the years in the United States as completion of high school has been followed by college education in De Anza. This change of geographical location has remarkably enhanced my geography skills because through it; I have explored a lot of things both in my home country and the United States of America. I, however, go back to my hometown during the holidays to spend time with my family and friends. This reflects the life I have for my hometown. I am also hopeful that I will get a job in my home country and possibly around my hometown, Shenzhen, to help in its growth and development as an economic zone in China. I want to describe Shenzhen from different angles and in terms of its location, its relevance to China, and the role it has played in my life, particularly as far as geography is concerned.
Shenzhen is located on the east bank of Pearl River in Guangdong province in China. It borders Hong Kong on the northern side, Huizhou to the northeast, and Dongguan to the northwest. The city shape of Shenzhen can be attributed to its vibrant economy due to the rapid foreign investment in the region. It was ranked as the second fastest-growing city in the world in the 1990s and 2000s. It is also recognized as the leading global technology hub in China. Generally, Shenzhen has earned most of its prominence due to economic activities, as this was the main reason for its establishment in 1980. My hometown, Shenzhen, is also a tourist attraction, and this has played the greatest role in my love for geography because it developed my interest in learning new things and the world around us. Its attraction can be based on the availability of amusement parks as well as contemporary buildings. These places have been my favorite areas since I was young. Our parents used to take us to amusement parks during weekends and holidays, and this is the main reason for my love for geography. It is because of these experiences that I realized my interest in learning about the world around us and also making our environments conducive not just for us but for both flora and fauna. Technologically, Shenzhen has a high tech. This can be proven by the fact that the town has many technology companies such as Huawei and Tencent. Altogether, the city has significantly contributed to the Chinese economy.
