My MBTI Portrait – ISFJ-T

My MBTI personality type is ISFJ (introverted, sensing, feeling, and judging), also known as the defender. The ISFJ incorporates a unique and distinct character where most of the traits defy the definition of individual attributes. Although sensitive, individuals with this type have excellent analytical abilities, social skills, and maintain robust social relationships (). In addition, ISFJs are conservative individuals and receptive to new ideas and change. The Defenders engage in people and careers they believe in with excitement, generosity, and enthusiasm. According to (), ISFJs make up the most significant portion of the entire population represented by nearly thirteen percent. The individuals combine the desire to do well and best of traditions to find careers with a rich history such as academics, charity works, medicine, and social work.

The personality type is broadly divided into turbulent (ISFJ-T) and assertive (ISFJ-A) defenders. My character is ISFJ-T, which represents meticulous people drawn to perfectionism. According to (), such individuals have a high probability of procrastination, although they usually ensure work is completed on time. Turbulent defenders usually take their duties and responsibilities seriously. These individuals continuously go above the required prospects and exceed expectations to please others both in their professional careers and at home. The common challenge for ISFJ-T is the need to ensure other people observe, notice, and appreciate whatever actions they undertake. According to (), turbulent defenders tend to underplay their achievements to provide other individuals respect their kindness. Notably, more selfish and cynical people expose ISFJ-T weakness by taking advantage of their humbleness and dedication. Turbulent defenders also use their natural sensitivity and imagination to articulate their generosity in ways that touch the recipient’s hearts.

MBTI vs. Big Five

The Big Five-factor model assesses a person’s attributes through the aspects of open-mindedness, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, and negative emotionality. During the test, I scored low in openness, which shows I am a conventional and down to earth person. In addition, low-scorers tend to be uncreative, have narrow interests, literal, and enjoy having a routine. Close-minded individuals prefer familiar and traditional experiences of trying new things. This aspect contrasts INSJ-T personality attributes. In conscientiousness, I scored 55 percentile, which means that I am neither organized nor disorganized. The aspect concerns how people control to regulate and direct their pulses. Individuals with high scores in conscientiousness display a high level of self-discipline. In addition, they are good at developing long-term goals and formulating plans to achieve these objectives. According to (), highly conscientiousness individuals can be workaholics and compulsive perfectionists with high levels of responsibility and reliability.

In the extraversion factor, I score 13 percentile. The results present me as introverted, inhibited, reserved, and one who enjoys spending most of the time alone. In addition, I have less energy and exuberance than those of extraverts. According to (), introverts are less concerned with social activities and tend to be quiet such that they do not need extra stimulations. This introversion aspect compares to the attributes from the ISFJ-T. In agreeableness, I scored 91 percentile, which represents a sympathetic, friendly, courteous, and good-natured individual. This trait compares with the outcome of the defender personality type in MBTI. I am a friendly and helpful person who find it essential to get along with others. Finally, in the negative emotionality, the results define me as a person who tends to become nervous and anxious in most situations. The Big factor results accurately compare with the MBTI personality traits except for the attribute of open-mindedness.

Personal Profile

The results from MBTI and Big Factor have created an interesting character profile that describes my personality. I am characterized by the desire and need to serve others through my industriousness. I enjoy structure and organization, which helps in the maintenance of order in all areas of my life. While people see me as an introverted and quiet human being, I am a keen observer and focus my attention on other people. I am good at remembering the small details about work and individuals while well-tuned to the feelings of others. In most cases, I prefer concrete facts than dealing with abstract theories. This attribute helps me in learning best by doing and becoming more interested in new things to solve real-world problems.

I am an introvert who is energized by spending most of the time alone. This trait means I have a small circle of close friends. In addition, I am an industrious caretaker who is loyal to organizations. The personality type makes me a committed and steady work with a deep sense of reliability and responsibility for others. I am more focused on fulfilling my duties, particularly when taking the needs of other people. In most of the time, I try to communicate with others that I am a trustworthy and respectable person who is willing to accomplish the expectations. In the workplace and group projects, I am a methodical person who attentive to little details with excellent analytical abilities and good memories. I strive to create an orderly, organized, and harmonious environment both at home and at work.

SWOT Analysis

My personality profile has several strengths and weaknesses. According to (), ISFJ-Ts are universal helpers and seek to share their knowledge, energy, time, and experience with friends, family, and anyone else who needs it. In addition, turbulent defenders are patient and reliable by offering careful and meticulous things instead of sporadic and exciting needs. I do not only ensure that things are done according to the highest standards but also go beyond the required expectations. Another strength is that I am an observant and imaginative person, which gives me an accessory to empathy as I observe others from their perspectives. With this trait, I can do things that are inspiring and fascinating. In addition, turbulent defenders are enthusiastic and take all their reliability, imagination, and creativity to apply in other people’s lives. For instance, I can use my enthusiasm to fight a global initiative or make a person’s day.

Notably, my personality profile provides me with a loyal and hardworking trait. My expectations would fail if anything short of meeting my obligations with hard work. On the other hand, my personality profile has several weaknesses. As an introverted person, I am shy and humble, which makes me to downplay my successes easily. Most of the time, I am more concerned with other people’s feelings to the point of taking things too personally. I have trouble separating personal from impersonal situations, which draws criticism, conflict, and negativity from other people. As an introvert, I repress my feelings due to my highly sensitive and private life. This aspect eliminates the chance of a healthy emotional expression, which leads to frustration and stress in all aspects of life. Notably, I am too reluctant to change due to my value for history and traditions in everything I do. I am willing to let things go very easily by avoiding overburdening others by accepting their offers to help.

Personal Development Plan

The development of my personality will occur continuously as I experience different phases throughout my life. Since I am young, the focus is on developing the use of my preferred mental functions. As maturity comes by, I will need to establish greater comfort with the use of non-preferences. The development will help me in increasing my performance in my career, work, and enhance my ability to deal with unique people and situations. As with other personality types, I will achieve personal growth by training those functions that I feel are underdeveloped. For example, in the area of constructive criticism, I should learn how to find it more helpful and encouraging. I have formulated four strategies that I need to achieve my full potential.

First, I need to seek out interactions and contact with other people. I tend to bury myself in my worldviews, which makes me spend more time living inside my head. I need to find constructive social interactions that will help me become more comfortable with diversity. Second, I need to speak to others even when I have to been spoken to. This will help me nurture my relations and develop productive relationships with others. Third, I need to step out of my comfort zone, where I am stuck with routines and traditional values. This move will help me in connecting with my inner creative side to achieve personal and professional goals. Finally, I need to lighten up since I have a sober and serious attitude. Incorporation of well-intentioned humor and fun can help in achieving efficiency and relieving stress.
