Personal ethics plays a significant role in the successes and failures of a person’s life in this contemporary world. A personal code of ethics is necessary because it expresses who I am and the beliefs that I hold. One of the most essential wishes I have is that my behavior and personality define my code of ethics without having to give someone to read it from a written document. Family, school, religion, and the friends I interact with are the key aspects that act as guiding blocks to my personal code of ethics. My list of ethics is long, but below are my top most essential codes that come first.
My ethical responsibility to my family is to be respectful to my elders and the people around me. In my family, I was taught to speak my mind at all times and consider airing my views in a respectful manner that does not upset others. My responsibility to my education and school is to act with integrity and honesty. I do things that I believe a good person is supposed to do even when it means making painful sacrifices. Integrity is vital in school because it helps earn trust with friends and teachers, which is an essential step to achieving success.
Additionally, I have a moral responsibility to obey laws and regulations everywhere, including my workplace law-breaking is detrimental to workplace performance and may hurt other people around me. Therefore, I aim to contribute to creating an organizational environment in which mistakes that break the law are minimized and are addressed the correct way in cases that they happen to occur.
Many of my personal ethics were founded on social customs and cultural values as a child and have not changed but instead grown deeper. The cultural norms such as those of family were not directly taught o me, but I unconsciously experienced them in my environment. My code of ethics help outlines the moral standards that I ought to emulate in my day to day life when making a decision
