My Thrilling Trip to the Alluring Desert

We love to travel whenever we can plan our leaves together. This time we expected to explore the luxurious Middle East and what better place to go than Dubai. The schedules were jam-packed due to the constraint of leaves from offices, so we searched the tour hosts and were lucky to have stumbled upon skylandtourism.com. The City Trip:

The tour started in the early morning with the timely pick up of our whole group in the AC tour buses. We were driven across the cities of Dubai, Al-Ain, and Abu Dhabi. We got to stare in amazement at the wonders of the modern world at the Burj Khalifa and the Ferrari world. The guide accompanying us was engaging and dropped in exciting trivia about these places. We also got to visit the Al ain National Museum, The Atlantis, Jumeriah beach, The Emirates palace hotel, The Marina Mall, Sheikh Zayed Mosque, and the Heritage village. We were stunned by the opulence and grandeur of Dubai malls. They are the ultimate shopping paradise and a shopaholics’ Disney land. No wonder Dubai is the city that gave birth to the Mall Culture. There was something for every one of us. Some of us were bedazzled amateur shopaholics while some being eternal religious pilgrims found ourselves immersed in the honesty of the magnificent mosques. There was a strict dress code for entering the mosques. The head needs to be covered, and the clothing needs to be sober for everyone. We were in the right hands as the days we visited mosques, we were guided to dress appropriately for them.

A Crazy Adventure in the Desert

The last day of our trip to these scintillating cities was reserved for a desert safari by them. The pickup was a little early, and we were taken in luxurious and fully air-conditioned 4X4s. The drive into the everlasting stretch desert on both sides was a mesmerizing one. It felt like cruising in a sea of sand. To make the start of the day perfect, we were in time to catch the early morning sun. The azure canvas of the sky was spilled with the warmth of the amber colors of the morning sun. These vivid hues of red and orange painted the air in an alluring fashion. The day changed from a reflective one to a thrilling one as we were taken to the site of rides and adventures. We opted for dune bashing and boy what a ride it was! The skill to drive in the little valleys and alleys of dunes is a scary but fun experience. There were quad bikes, sand skiing, sand surfing, and other such exciting sports. The desert sun can be unrelenting and harsh, and so I would recommend a strong sunscreen to protect the skin and a pair of right shades for your eyes. We went crazy involved the sport in realizing that by the time the fun had ended, we had sand in our clothes, shoes, hair, and ears. But we couldn’t care less as the day was the best day of our lives.

Any tour to a place is incomplete if you don’t indulge in the local lifestyle. To get a taste of the rustic and nomadic way of life is what we wanted. The package included a mesmerizing trip to the mystical desert.

A Slice of the Rustic Nomadic Life

We were given a grand welcome at the nomadic style tents and campsite letting us feast our eyes on the intricate attention to detail in the décor and setting of the camp. The Bedouin-style tents arranged around the large campfires were the perfect setup after a day of thrill and adrenaline rush. There were camel rides at the site. Camels are imposing large animals but shy and friendly when approached. I loved the trip and then got myself two henna tattoos. Many people in our group opted for renting traditional nomadic attire and clicked pictures all dressed up. There were souvenir shops and other small shops, organizing fun games and activities for the guests. The ambiance of the whole place had a feel of a local fair. The soft drinks and snacks were served to all, and then it was time for the cultural shows. Elegant dancers performed the enchanting belly dance. There was a fire show and performances by local artists. The Tanura show had us all in a trance. Kids joined the artists, and all of us had the best time of our lives.

A Dreamy Close to an Awesome Day:

As the night came upon us, we were served a dinner that was nothing short of culinary delight. There were the traditional kababs and BBQ, along with the multi-cuisine offerings as spaghetti with meatballs, pasta, etc. after a long, tiring. Still, a fun way the delicious food just added another dimension to the whole experience. Being there in the desert, enjoying the excellent meal with the soft trance background music, with our friends and family, I thanked God for how good a life I was bestowed with. The night stretched on, and the starry sky, like I never witnessed before (thanks to the city lights), was humbling and peaceful.

The group was then taken back in the pickup vehicles through the desert that looked like a different place altogether shrouded in the glittering night sky. The desert slept in peace as we made our way to the hotel.

The Desert is Calling:

I have loved the whole experience and am eternally thankful to have found the perfect hosts and guides in the process. I have returned a changed woman and am hungry for more. It would be safe to say that the Dubai desert is calling, and I am eager to return.
