In the presented scenario, 20% of the nurses are new to the organization and also in the Emergency Department. On the other hand, the organization has experienced nurses in the emergency department. As a result, this has led to a workforce with mixed experiences and expertise amid the implementation of the new system. As such, the leadership of the ED would require a change of both the physical environment as well as the beliefs and practices of the nurses.

In this case, I would ensure the participation of every unit in the Emergency Department (ED), including the newly recruited nurses. As such, I would involve a representative from each unit to create an implementation team. The primary objective of leading the ED team is to promote collaboration among all the nurses and therefore ensure uniformity in the performance.

The involvement of employees from all the units in the implementation process would create a sense of team-work and therefore enhance the success of the whole team in general. The central idea of involving the unit representatives is to develop a collaborative approach in the ED. I believe that involving all the units in the implementation of the new systems would ensure uniformity and therefore enhance the outcomes of the patients.

The implementation plan relates to my Clifton strengths since it involves the engagement of the employees in the transformation process. As a result, my adaptability theme helps me to respond to the current demands in the organization. Therefore, the implementation plan aligns with the adaptability theme since it involves handling problems as they arise while focusing on the current issues. As such, the implementation requires me to embrace the strengths of the nurses based on their experiences. On the other hand, the implementation plan aligns with my transformational leadership style because it involves working with the nurses to implement change.

The choice of the implementation plan is based on the analogy that involving employees in the implementation of a new change helps in enhancing their motivation. In this case, involving the nurses creates a chance for a collaborative approach towards a common goal. According to literature, this approach results in a collaborative effort between the employees aimed at enhancing the performance of the entire workforce (Grol & Wensing, 2013).

Further, involving the representatives of the units creates a unit-based approach and therefore affecting the overall performance of the ED. While the nursing team consists of nurses with different experiences, the new nurses can learn from the old nurses and therefore improve the performance of the ED.

In this case, being able to implement situational leadership will improve my abilities to inform the team about the necessary changes in their roles. As a result, being able to communicate with the nurses and influence their performance will place me in a better position to advocate for social change in favor of the patient population. The ability to implement change in the organization will create an opportunity to communicate with the nurses about the necessary social changes that will likely benefit the patient population.

The transformational leadership style is based on the idea that despite differences in interests, individuals are unified by the pursuit of higher goals. Therefore, despite the differences in their experiences, the nurses in the ED are expected to collaborate in an effort to improve the outcomes of their patients. In this context, being able to unite the nursing units will place me in a better position to notify the nurses about the social needs of their patients.
