Obituary Assignment: How do you want to live your life?
Psychology 145: Human Development Objective: In this individual assignment, you will reflect on your personal goals and explain what role developmental processes play in their acquisition. Ideally, this assignment will help you to focus on how you want to live your life, and how you want to be remembered. Instructions: Write a 6-7 pages paper (including the cover and references pages), double-spaced, and APA-formatted that includes the following in this order (write in the third person throughout): 1. A one-page OBITUARY for yourself (assume you live a long life until ripe old age). An obituary is a notification that an individual has passed away. It is a public acknowledgment of the life and death of the deceased, usually detailing significant aspects of their life in chronological order. 2. Obituary word limit: 200 words (Approx. 2/3 page; 45 points) Consider the following: What legacy do you want to leave behind? This is a fictional assignment, but not fantasy. For example, saying you are going to cure cancer and end terrorism is not very realistic. Think concretely in terms of who you hope to become, and what you hope to accomplish in life. Will you have a spouse? Will you have children? What kind of work will you do? What characteristics will you be remembered for having? Think of your obituary as an aspirational guide for the rest of your life. Be specific about aspects of your life and death that you choose to discuss. IDENTITY and INTEGRITY: One of the advantages of writing your own obituary is that it allows for an opportunity to live life more intentionally. In order to do this, you need to know who you are which, in turn, will help you figure out what your unique contribution to the world will be (note: contribution is different from achievement; it is simply about your effort and commitment). A.[unique_solution] Discuss the role of identity formation in the achievement of your life goals. Explain James Marcia’s model of identity formation before interpreting your own development within the context of this theory (Approx. 1 page; 30 points) B. Discuss your obituary in the context of Erik Erikson’s last stage of psychosocial development, integrity vs. despair. Explain the characteristic conflict and possible outcomes of this stage. Explain which specific life events would result in despair, in contrast to integrity (Approx. 1 page; 30 points) Select a PSYCHOLOGICAL PERSPECTIVE (social learning, ecological systems, evolutionary, cognitive, psychodynamic, etc.) and use it to interpret your life goals. Explain the perspective in detail before applying it to your life goals. How can your selected perspective help explain the person that you aspire to be? (Approx. 1 page; 25 points) Formatting (10 points): Your paper should be submitted online as a PDF document. American Psychological Association (APA) formatting guidelines are available here at Purdue Online Writing Lab (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site.. It is NOT necessary to include an author note, abstract or headings such as Methods and Discussion. You do, however, need to include the following: Cover page with paper title, author, and running head Page numbers 12-point font, double-spacing throughout, 1-inch margins In-text citations (e.g., textbook and any optional sources) References page (e.g., textbook and any optional sources) Additional Sources (10 points): You need to include information from at least two reliable sources (in addition to your textbook). Use the information included in research articles published in scientific journals (e.g., Journal of Adolescent Research) to support your arguments. Include proper in-text citations and references (APA formatting; see above) of your chosen sources. I need a 96% on this paper to get a B, I really need help and am willing to pay top dollar for this. I really appreciate it if you are willing to help. Thank you!
