One Perfect Rose review

Things are changing in the current society, and people are moving away from the old days where people were very comfortable with past things. In the poem ” One Perfect Rose,” the reader has a different perspective of how the ideas flow, but as the poem continues, Dorthy Parker makes the reader have a different emotional feeling till the end. The poet says how tired she is at the thought of old rose, and she tells her admirer that she was breaking up from the love of the perfect rose.  Also, her love story had an impact on the way she wrote, and the story resembles the message in the poem. She tries as much as possible to be clear by uses of imageries as well as repetition so that the leader can get her full message as to why she was to part ways with the old rose.

Parker uses dictions at the beginning of the poem to show how fascinated she was, as the reader reads he can understand that the speaker is happy because her new lover is giving her enough attention as well as grateful. In the first stanza, the speaker tells how romantic was the perfect rose which she was in love in the first place. She uses poetic language to describe the love the perfect rose shown her, and she even calls it him, meaning she took the rose as a man since she was a lady. The way she describes it, it sounds one of the sweetest feelings that any woman would die to have from the perfect rose. She appreciates the rose as she calls it a perfect rose.

However, as from the second stanza, the mood of the poem changes, “one perfect Limousine becomes preferable to the rose ”, she is influenced by the love of money that ends up corrupting the love she had for the perfect rose (MAGALDI 121). It is in this stanza that she sees the reality that was hidden behind her views and they really affected her indirectly. She seems to be pained by the fact that her man who she thought loved her that much had appreciated her with a single flower and this maker her get convinced of his love and calls him perfect rose. Later, Dorthy learns she was missing out when she falls in love with her new lover.   In the third stanza, feelings totally shifts of feelings. We see her very happy in the first stanza, and as we continue reading, she sounds disappointed by what she receives from the perfect rose, and that why she fell in love with ideal Limousine. We see that the speaker could go for something else at the cost of romantic love. It is because of the disappointment she undergoes that makes her transition her thoughts and feelings into writing.

In the poem, the speaker uses designed words that are aimed to give shock values to the reader as she succeeds; she creates an incorrect tone to the reader; the reader has confused feelings as well as a false sense of love and security. Later she relieves the authentic mood and atmosphere, and this is the perfect time the reader can understand what was happening in her life and the bitterness that was in her soul from the memories she had in her life. Without the shifting of the mood, the reader could have lost interest, but when she gives a different view of the same, then the reader wishes to know what happened in the next stance, and this makes the reader remain in suspense until the end of the poem.

Similarly, life needs changes, and these changes led to motivation and added purpose to it. If we live in the same location seeing the same things, we get used and view life as a routine, and this makes us be demotivated, but when things change, life gets its meaning. The poem teaches us to be willing to shed off our traditional ways and relationships as this could the only way we could get new experiences in life. Dorthy sends off the love of the perfect rose, and this makes her have a perfect limousine. Although the rose is a perfect lover for a long time, she had to push it away since she felt she needed a more productive relationship, and she also needed to take part in the perfection of the relationship. We learn from the speaker to push away our old deeds As this would give us a room to experience new things in life. We usually have a place to change from our early life experiences if they made us feel not very comfortable with them. However, much we are pleased with the past experiences, we need to shed them off just like Dorthy did to the perfect rose.
