opportunities related to transformational styles in leadership
Introduction
The progress of any organization heavily depends on the leadership approach that is applied in the organization. Leadership styles that are employee-oriented contribute to ensuring that there are high engagement levels among the organization’s employees. Transformational leadership is an example of an employee-oriented leadership style as the leader challenges and inspires the team to go beyond personal interests to achieve the organizational goals. This paper will address the opportunities related to transformational styles in leadership with examples within the organization.
In the business of service provision under the financial industry, there are a number of opportunities which allow the application of transformational leadership. The first opportunity is engaging the employees in the decision-making process. In decision making, the company should promote engagement by allowing greater employee participation in meetings. This enables the employees to develop a greater passion for this work, a more robust sense of meaning, and an immersion to their professional positions (Yoerger et al. 2015, p.73). For instance, having daily or weekly meetings could make feel the employees involved, and it also allows them to have a platform where they freely engage with the management.
A transformative leader ensures that employees are involved by allowing employees to have ownership of the company. One such way has been through project ownership by allowing employees to independently make decisions without being underestimated in the process (Othman et al., 2017, p.108). By allowing them to make financial decisions, recruitment decisions, and overall decisions on the project, with respect to the company’s protocol. For example, in the company, employees should be allowed to make decisions at every stage. They can be allowed to meet the project suppliers or other stakeholders involved in the project.
Conclusion
It is evident that in a service-based industry, transformational leadership through frequent communication through meetings and project ownership are two ways that can be used to add value to the firm through employee engagement.
