Oprah’s Empowering Story
Poetic Passage by Maya Angelou is a poem that talks about Oprah’s life story. The author gives examples of travelers and compares Oprah to the third traveler who is more prepared about her journey and adequately prepares. By this comparison, the writer tries to show how willing Oprah was in fighting the challenge she was facing, despite the hardships she faced as a young kid. She was born in a place where money was adored, and being White was much desired. Being black and with no cash meant that people would look upon her. From the story, we get to learn about the separation of her parents, and as a result, she was brought up by her strict grandmother. Through her aspiring story, Oprah has been able to empower a lot of people and prove that it is possible to make it.
