Organizational Behavior in Hospitality
Question 1.
Human resources is an important part and section of an organization. When we uphold all the motivation techniques and theories in our hotel, we will be in the way of encouraging the employees to be more productive. Employees need the motivation to work hard and compete for the reward by management at the end of their activity. In such a scenario, there will be a general increase in the productivity of the employees and the entire hotel. What determines the effectiveness and efficiency of the operations in an organization for this case, being a hotel is the willingness and ability of the workers. We should mainly focus on educating and training employees, primarily in their areas of operation, to ensure that they acquire the required skill for effective delivery of service in different departments. On the other hand, workers may be having the knowledge and ability but not willing to deliver their service as required by the organization as a result of a lack of motivation (Tung 2017 pg. 23-25).
Some of the possible motivation strategies which we should put into consideration include focusing on education, training, promotion as well as salary increment, and other merits based on the quality and efforts of an employee. Ensuring proper motivational techniques would be a great strategy that we can use to enhance the appropriate delivery of service and the increased productivity of the workers. It is our role as the department of human resources to look at all the aspects affecting in one way or the other the employees in our hotel, which in turn will increase the morale of our employees in whatever they are undertaking in this hotel. Among other factors having able and motivated employees will enable us as the organization to archive the goals of our organization, which is mainly being more profitable than before (Heydari 2019 pg. 170-178). Question 2.
There are several methods and theories that we, as the management team can use to influence the behaviour of others in our organization and ensure that they act in the same direction, which in this case is the achievement of the organizational goals as well as ensuring that there is unity. The Maslow’s theory of the hierarchy of need is one of the most import theory which we can use and which can make it easy for users to influence the behaviour of the other groups in the organization positively. Different human being has a different need at different levels. Therefore, requirements are the main reasons why people tend to seek work. The work would help them get something to satisfy their various needs at different levels. Therefore in that regard, we should focus on the diverse needs of different employees, which would help us critically evaluate the behaviour of different groups (Dixit 2017).
The study of physiological, physiological, cultural, and also economic concepts and factors of the employees would provide detailed knowledge about the welfare and the perception of different employees. Therefore, we should put into consideration all the groups in the organization, which would, in turn, enhance proper understanding and handling individuals and groups in this regard. Having complete knowledge of different dimensions of employee emotions, among other factors, makes it easier for an individual to influence the behaviour of another. As a human resource department and the department, which is one of the most important, we should concentrate more on such activities for the welfare of the workers in the organization. Applying all those concepts in an attempt to influence the behaviour of other individuals and groups in our hotel would form an active and productive organization focused on archive its goals (Tung 2017 pg. 26-32).
Question 3.
There can be two possible outcomes of teams. First, there can be a team which is useful in its operations and on the other hand there can also be another team which is ineffective in its services. Several factors are influencing the effectiveness of a group or an organization of individuals and vice versa. For a team to be capable, one of the factors which contribute to such a situation is the focus of the members of the organization. For example, for an organization or group to be effective, all the members should have a general discussion on the organization. Having a joint conversation in the team will ensure that there is also a prevailing direction of the members; that is, all the members have the same goal to archive. In that regard, there is a need to have proper management of the team to ensure that all the members are working together to archive the goal (Dixit 2017).
Unity is the other standard and vital rule which enhances the effectiveness of a group or a team of individuals. Therefore, we should ensure that different organizations in our hotel are focused on the same goal and then adhere to all the requirements, which makes it easy for groups to be active. Failure to observe any of the guidelines that have stated above will make it hard for our groups as an organization to be cooperative and archive the goal that we have as a hotel. Therefore, as the managers and the influencers of the operations of workers in our hotel, we should ensure that every group is in line with the laid guidelines and principles to enhance its success as a group. Having such active groups will enable us to have an added advantage as far as the achievement of organizational goals is concerned (Heydari 2019, pg. 190-198).
Question 4.
Some of the concepts and philosophies of organizational behaviour within our hotel and which we use include human dignity, a whole person, motivated behaviour and perception as well as individual differences, among others. The application of all those philosophies and concepts are making the organization successful as we are in a position to evaluate the behaviour as well as the need or the individuals and the groups operating in the organization. For example, we consider the concept of the individual difference to get to understand that every individual in an organization is unique in away. Therefore, they would be handled differently (Dixit, 2017).
Also, we can find out that what we are doing is not enough. Therefore, there is a need for improvements in some of the areas and especially concerning the organizational behaviour and the other concepts related to it. The desire for involvement is also another requirement of any employee, and therefore, there is a need for us to focus on such in the future. In the case where everyone feels involved in the operations of the hotel entirely, then that acts as a motivating factor and everyone are going to produce to the best. Therefore, I would recommend that we put into consideration all those aspects of organizational behaviour (Tung 2017, pg. 33-35).
