Overview of Project Data Collection and Analysis

Data Collection

This process will be conducted by giving questionnaires pre and post-education. The twenty participants (25-49 males and females) will attend training programs on prevalence, management, and treatment of scabies among the elderly individuals in the area. These questionnaires will be sent to the nurses via electronic mail. These questionnaires will be administered individually and will be composed based on the objective; that is, each element of the questionnaire should be found on the study’s aim.

The questionnaires will be semi-structured (open-ended and close-ended questions). The focus of the closed-ended questionnaires will be to access specific factors without taking into consideration the opinion of the participant (“EXAMINING DATA COLLECTION,” 2015). The open-ended questionnaires will be complementing the close-ended questionnaires via facilitating the participants to expand their claims. The open-ended questionnaires, therefore, will act support for the issues stated by the researcher. Moreover, they will provide any information left out by close-ended questionnaires. The time frame for data collection will be two weeks, one week for training, and then the other for administering questionnaires.

Data Analysis

The data collected from this study will be evaluated using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences tool (SPSS). This analysis tool assesses and gives descriptive data for the regression assessment of information and interventional purposes (Kusumah, 2018). Based on the definition of SPSS, it will be essential to conduct a correction procedure to correlate the proposed intervention plan, the common impacts of scabies on the facility, patients, and staff members. The data collected will be presented in the form of charts, tables, and graphs. This will enhance the interpretations linked to the PICOT question under scrutiny.

In this study, there are two variables two be evaluated (dependent and independent). The dependent variables to be accessed are the period of research, the prevalence of scabies, and the participants. These variables will be analyzed using correlational analysis (statistical analysis technique to determine the level of relationship between the variables). Several variations of binary logistic regression will be used to create a model of all the variables with a P-value <0.25 from the bivariate analysis. In this study, a P-value of <0.05 will be considered statistically significant for the analysis of more than two variables. The independent variables in this research are victims, prevailing conditions, and location. The variables will be accessed using descriptive statistics; these are mean (determines of central tendency), frequency, and standard deviation (evaluates dispersion) (“Social Data Analysis,” 2018). The time frame for the data analysis will be for a week. Sample size determination will be used to evaluate the demographic data; in this case, right deciding the right size for the sample is crucial. Therefore, proportion and deviation methods will be used to precisely select the right sample size.
