Patients and families in trusting a nurse
Lachelle Boyden,
What you have said regarding patients and families, putting trust in a nurse to provide comprehensive and quality care, is true. This outlines why nurses need to advance their careers to increase their competencies in knowledge, attitude, and skills in managing different patient conditions. Nursing is a dynamic career, and it requires continuous updating of knowledge and skills based on the current scope of practice and ethical principles that define nursing career (Tilley, 2018). Besides, advancing nursing education enables nurses to take leadership positions that can change the face of nursing and advocate for the rights of nurses.
Advanced nursing education promotes the acquisition of privileges such as patient diagnosis, planning treatment, and implementing care, just like the other healthcare professionals. Having the required expertise incorporates nurses into the administrative team of the organization, which leads to better decisions making and effective problem solving (Tilley,2018). Nurses are the pillar of the healthcare system; therefore, having a highly educated and qualified team of nurses fosters the provision of safe and quality health care services.

Jennifer Millard,
Advancing nursing education plays a significant role in the improvement of patient outcomes through the provision of safe and quality care. I support your opinion that acquiring additional education enables a nurse to think beyond the current care of the patient. What will happen next? It allows them to think of the outcomes of their care through well-planned interventions and scientific rationales supporting the type of care implemented. Additionally, additional education focuses on the use of evidence-based practices, research, health policies, and quality improvement in the delivery of patient-centered and goal-oriented care.
The entry levels to nursing act as a pacesetter. It is a foundation in which students build their careers. The basics learned at the entry-level, whether diploma, associate degree, or BSN, enables a nurse to understand the core of nursing and establish commitment in providing safe patient care. The primary goal of advancing nursing education is to improve nurses’ knowledge to satisfy the different patient needs, enable them to take leadership roles, and advance science in their practice to allow them to deliver safe, quality patient care (Institute of Medicine, 2017). Therefore, nurses should be encouraged to seek further education through specialization to expand their level of knowledge and skills.
