PERSONAL CENTERED THERAPY
Personal centered therapy was established to allows a non-directive type of talk. The main quality that makes a better personal centered therapy includes unconditional positive regards, genuineness and empathetic understanding.
Carol expressed unconditional positive regard in this case the client needs to be accepted and provided care and support by the therapist. An example of unconditional positive regard is the therapist expressing needs attitudes such as ‘I ‘ll accept you as you are’ by expressing this attitude one provides care to the client. Rodgers expresses the kind of caring the client receives the therapist should accept him the way he or she is. The second one is an empathetic understanding of the client.
According to my options, Gloria begins to cry in the conversation because Rodgers expressed an empathy concern, also Rodgers expressed a genuineness, by using meta-statements in his therapeutic encounter with Gloria, Finally, Rodgers portrayed unconditional positive regards such as care support and acceptance to her problems this all makes Gloria cry.
According to Rogerian psychotherapy, he made a statement that each person can benefit from the client the person-centered therapy and become fully transformed from a ‘potentially competent individual’ to a fully capable person. Rodger view that persons are self-sufficient who are able to appreciate their potentials and bring optimistic change to their lives. However, every client should increase self-esteem and become very open.
I view personal centered therapy as the best way of solving problems because the counselor poses characters of being genuine, accepting emotions of the client, having unconditional positive regards, the counselor always concentrates on what the client is saying but does not make a decision. These techniques offer the best way of providing non-directive talk to the client.
