 Photography, as a form of art, has become popular thanks to the technological advancement of the camera from analog to digital. Through a click of a button, anyone can become a photographer through the use of their phones and digital camera. However, not everyone can take a professional picture. The field trip I decided to visit an art museum helped me gain insight into how professional photography can be help create a social image on issues such as poverty and homelessness. The field trip presented an opportunity for me to visit the San Jose Museum of art located in San Jose, state of California. The San Jose Museum of art was established was in 1969 and started out as a library in California. One thing I enjoyed about the San Jose Museum of arts is its location because it is situated in a location that provides an ambient space for art. The street at which the San Jose Museum of art is located is quiet and safe to provide a conducive environment for an artist to design their work. Also, it is in a public area that is popular for its art galore. Thus, many people are familiar with the museum and its appreciation of art.

The entrance of the museum stands out in a way that communicates to the visitors and the public that the museum is centered in art and appreciates visual arts. For starters, the entrance to the building is written in bold white letters with a red background, and the letters are cut in half, but a person can still read and understand the readings. The red background is also significant because it increases the visibility of the bold white letters for the name of the museum such that people are able to read the word from a far distance. The museum’s architecture is also an important aspect to note. The building is beautiful and pays homage to the Romanesque style of architecture that was heavily adopted in the medieval period. Outside the building, there is a colorful structure the is noticeable from a distance. While I was crossing the street to make my way to the building, I was impressed with the color scheme of the sculpture since it caught my attention because it represents a figure that is holding up a sun that is raised on a platform to make it visible from a distance. The figure is the perfect landmark for the museum because people are able to relate art with the museum because of the sculpture.

Upon entering the museum, one is expected to show their student ID if they are a student. However, adults and seniors are expected to pay $10 and $8, respectively. From the payment method, it is clear that the museum seeks to attract young people who are art enthusiasts. I believe that allowing young artists as well as young art enthusiasts would help promote the value and importance of art among the young American generation. The art museum is well decorated from wall to wall with photographs as well as images that are well taken and explore the artist’s ideas and beliefs. While entering the gallery of the museum, I was excited to witness various form s of arts. For example, there was a gallery full of athletes who ran in the previous Olympics and other global athletics tournaments. The Speed City hall dazzled many visitors who had come to the museum to satisfy their thirst for art. Also, I noticed that there was a presence of photographs on the walls of the structure which were taken in a professional manner and appealed to the public.

Nonetheless, the room that excited my need for art was the Beta Space by Pea White. The space was colorful and explored the color scheme that the artist was comfortable with. The piece of art took an ample space that left me mesmerized since I had never seen a more beautiful piece of art like the Beta Space. The Beta Space is a series of art that represents the artistic composition of art in the Beta Space. One of the most remarkable moments I received in the museum was getting close to Pae White’s sculptures. I understood that the Beta Space was a working space for Pea White, who kept her artistic identity a secret during a time when women’s art was disregarded.  Pae white’s exhibition included paper clay paintings, electroplated steel mobile, and delicate cotton. Pae White, the curator of the Beta Space, is a contemporary artist who creates large-scale installations that are concerned with changing how we perceive objects in society.

Pae White’s work, the Beta Space, feature newly composed artwork that is able to transcend both artwork and design as well as effectively communicate the artist’s message to her audience. The Beta Space is ample space within the San Jose Museum of arts that allowed me to experience art in a new style that transcends one photograph. The Beta Space is a beautiful form of art because it is colorful because it showcases Pae White’s ability to manifest some of her transformations of ordinary objects like popcorns and chandeliers into artistic objects that seek to defy the logic of art and manifest into exhilarating experiences that the audience is able to experience that works well with the art of Pea white. Overall, I enjoyed the field trip because it exposed me to a form of art that I was not aware it existed. The San Jose Museum of art is an exciting place to visit because it encompasses various forms of art as well as photography that help quench a person’s thirst for original and straightforward forms of art such as the Beta Space within the museum.
