Physical activity on health promotion 2020
Physical activity is movements of any body parts that require energy expenditure, for example, walking, taking the lawn, moving chairs, running, cleaning utensils, among others. The objective of healthy people in 2020 of promoting physical activity can be developed into strategies. The target population of this kind of goal consists of adults at behavioral health clinics located in low-income areas. People are executed into about ten-week health classes by health experts to promote physical activity. The goal of enrolling in health education is to promote real business in daily life and routine of adults clients in the clinics. Below are health models and how they apply to health promotion 2020.
Heath status of low-income people where our behavioral clinics are located is not functional. Their physical fitness is very low. A survey conducted indicates that few people are out there exercising; they are playing, running, riding bicycles, jogging, or taking part in any physical activity. As Berlin and Colditz (1990) pointed out nearly three decades ago that, physical activity is paramount to the prevention of so many health complications such as coronary health disease and obesity. There is a lack of awareness’ of benefits of physical activity to adults of behavioral health clinics, which indicates that education intervention is essential for in promotion of healthy physical activity 2020. Lack of physical activity is very harmful, especially to people with behavioral or mental problems. It can reduce the quality of life of such patients and temper with their lifestyle as their freedom to refreshments is limited to avoids their conditions from worsening. Also, excess weight and lack of physical exercise increase the risk of cancer development in the pancreases and kidney. There is also a tremendous economic coast, which was measured at the end of the 20th century at $2.4 billion of the money paid to the health sector to handle the diseases due to lack of physical exercise.
There is also a problem that the majority of this population is from a low-income community. They are living in an unsecured environment, which forces them to stay indoors. Because they fear being attacked when they get outside and exercise, it may also be a result of poor hygienic environment around them, which may not allow them to apply. Thus part of the problem of addressing these issues and finding permanent solutions against insecurities and poor hygiene so that people will be able to spend more time outside exercising to avoid health complications.
The intervention selected to address this issue is the introduction of exercise classes with heath education to promote physical activity. People are also advised to engage in manual work daily as it is also part of proper exercise. The course will teach the necessary skills that people will be able to exercise daily. The class will also include health education to the people, which will educate them about the importance of maintaining daily routine in exercise. Clients will also be taught ways to maintain proper health to avoid unnecessary health complications, which are a result of poor lifestyles. Lastly, the class will include techniques or steps that a client can take to prevent insecurity, such as doing exercise as a team and maintaining contact with one another so that one knows when one is in or out.
Motivating behaviors of this population include improving health and feeling better physically. As there are patients at the clinic, they are already motivated, and they have filed better as their health has improved. Motivation brings peace of mind. This is also the best step in the right direction for them.as they have already been exposed to learning strategies of physical exercise of improving their health generally. Another enabling factor is the patient’s ability to develop support groups or just a team so that they can assist one another in getting outside and exercising together. Exercising as a team is also a motivation factor for them since you will not feel lonely and tiresome quickly.
Reinforcing factor includes the feeling of right and improved health as they will enjoy engaging in physical activity. Just from a personal point of view, one can sense and conclude how he/she feels after a physical exercise, his/her attitude, and energy levels. One will feel much better always as use is meant to refresh and build. (Marcus-Varwijk, Peters, Visscher, Smits, Ranchor, Slaets, 2020)
Research states that a patient should be physically active for at least 150min per week; good health should be the primary motivating factor for patients to maintain physical strength. As stated earlier, physical activity has numerous health benefits for all people in general. Behavioral interventions have shown to significantly improve physical activity, which has resulted in improved control over diseases such as diabetes and body mass. Behavioral innervations make patients more active physically. Behavioral intervention is effective in a diverse population setting. Promoting healthy behaviors is also a critical factor in helping clients to be more productive. US health department once said that activity is better than inactivity and activity has many health benefits. Patients, therefore, should also play a significant role in being active.
Another mode on physical activity on health promotion is monitoring the incidence of fit patients and those who are not fit. Healthy people 2020 have developed strategies and goals for the future. Their objective is aligned with the 2008 Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans. This objective includes increasing time for physical education in schools and also getting more physicians to counsel patients on matters concerning health fitness and benefits from physical activity.
Once we set goals, it will be easier for physicians’ to monitor any disease related to physical activity to develop the relationship between physical activity health affordability and wellness. Physical activity also has the advantage of lowering health care costs and diseases incidence. Monitoring disease incidence between more active people and those who are less active will help us to understand more the importance of the physical activity.
For physical activity goals to be achieved, the best health practices must be implemented. Physicians and patients need to identify the methods and spread them (Terry, 2020). Also, web based-physical activity should be developed to match patients with the specific resources that will help patients to be more physically active, where they can work, play, and pray.
In conclusion, the full range and policies shown and discussed in this paper are needed to promote more physical activity for patients and all people in general. The goal for physical activity and a generally good lifestyle are likely to be achieved if interventions and policies are guided by approaches that are conclusively known to meet all the members of communities we serve. We should also strive to come up with new programs necessary to address the issues. Also, to improve on the physical activity, we must hold patients and physicians accountable for physical activity as a vital sign.
