Poor Communication in Healthcare
Actually, in all healthcare, communication is a crucial component, and to thrive, health organizations should recognize the importance of communication. The management should consider innovative ways of developing communication due to current technology (Anderson et al., 2017). The paper discusses the issue of poor communication in the health sector and personal proposal on how I feel the sharing of information can be improved.
Evidence-based Practices and Poor Communication
An increase in demand for services due to a rise in the population of patients, ineffective communication between patients and staff is a concerning issue. Effective communication enables better services to patients as it enhances good relationships and coordination between departments. It is the work of stakeholders to ensure an effective communication system between the departments (Leonard, 2017). Poor communication is also associated with social, ethical and economic implications. Due to miscommunication, a family can mourn losing their loved ones, a situation that could have been avoided if communication was effective. According to Shitu et al. (2018), medical errors can make patients seek sophisticated treatment, which is expensive. Don't use plagiarised sources.Get your custom essay just from $11/page
SWOT Analysis of the Alzheimer’s Association
The availability of the organizational website and social media is one of the strengths of the company as it enables extensive coverage of information (Dassel et al., 2020). Different activities create revenue for the organization; also, walking events helps in passing information. Confusing the functioning of the websites and weak twitter presence are some weaknesses of the association. Opportunities in the association are video blogging involvement in awareness promoting and also twitter exploitation in communication (Yoon et al., 2019). The threat includes the association’s functions are confused by other charity organizations. People tend to have low social media enthusiasm, thus communicating to a few individuals and also an inadequate innovative way of influencing people are also threats.
Literature Review
Focus here is the risks associated with poor communication services in health organizations and how skills of communicating can be provided to nurses. Excellent communication should be encouraged to improve health services and patients safety (Nikmanesh, Mohammadzadeh, Nobakht, & Yusefi, 2018). Healthcare organizations are encouraging the use of excellent communication skills, their resources on equipping nurses with communication skills. A wrong diagnosis and errors in medication can emerge due to poor communication. Interaction between clients and health practitioners is considered as metric for the care efficacy and dynamicity (Madula, Kalembo, & Kaminga, 2018). Education and training should also be encouraged by leaders as it enables employees to understand aspects of excellent communication, thus promoting the satisfaction of workers.
Leadership Theory
Transformation Leadership theory is an approach that emphasizes how essential and positive change can be brought about by leaders among their minority at work. This approach advocates for the need for positive constant growth in the nursing sector. It has been evident that transformation leadership theory is essential, especially in an unstable and uncertain field. The maintenance of a standard flow of activities is associated with transaction leadership (Afsar et al.,2017). I prefer the use of a transformation leadership approach because leaders focus on how they can assist each other in carrying out organizational goals.
Change Theory
To enhance continuous improvement in quality, patient safety, and improving efficiency, modern technology should be proactively integrated with the healthcare sector. Lewin’s model is essential in creating a framework for the development of a new system in communication. The planning and implementation of a project phase is actualized in a way that influences all departments
(Rosenbaum et al., 2018). The first stage involves problem identification, which in this case is poor communication in the health sector. The moving steps follow and are conducted for five months, and it means the actual change moment. Here, the implementation of a new communication system should be developed to ease information sharing. With all staff included, the status quo is unfrozen to build trust and honesty among participants (Wojciechowski et al., 2016). The refreezing stage is the final one, is when the manager is assured that each phase is monitored and supervised to completion.
Proposal
I believe the implementation of a new communication system will enable efficiency in passing information between the health practitioners. Also, there will be an improvement in service delivery as patients will be given quality treatment. I also expect inter-colleague collaboration to be useful as communication between workers will rely on this. The impact on the organization as sharing findings from the research will be more comfortable. Also, it will coordinate hospital leadership as hospital leaders communicate regularly with staff, doctors and patients.
