POP Center
The ASU POP Center website provides a detailed popup exposition about Arizona State University (ASU), the different schools and colleges, maps and directory for location and contact details. Also, the interface provides several options for the user elaborating more on Problem-Oriented Policing (POP). Each option offers unique information including about the center, its mission statement and background history; Translations of crucial information in different major global languages including American English, Portuguese, Bosnian, Chinese (Traditional and Simplified), Farsi, Spanish and among others; Library with recommended readings of crime science; POP Projects; Learning Center; Award & Conferences; and POP Guide.
Essentially, the POP Guide provides problem-specific guides on but not limited to “Abandoned Buildings and Lots” and “Abandoned vehicles.” The guide on abandoned buildings and lots addresses the dangers such structures pose to the community. It also provides the allowable legal definitions and evaluations in identifying a structure as problematic. Notably, deserted properties are problems to law enforcers when they encourage crime and disorder by providing cover, camouflage, and places for planning or propagating offenses (Shane 8). Criminals are attracted to the forsaken property since there are no controls or people who can report any suspicious behavior.
On the other hand, the guide on abandoned vehicles gives instructions on dealing with the menace created by the unlawful disposal of motor vehicles. Inherently, forsaken autos pose the threat of providing hideouts to law offenders such as drug peddlers, or offer shelter to the homeless (Maxfield 1). Moreover, the guide defines how to evaluate and classify an abandoned auto into the right legal problem.
In conclusion, the ASU website provides sufficient information for users to learn more about the institution and the POP center. The POP guides provide relevant instructions on specific problems. Also, the guides provide details on what the law covers and does not cover when dealing with a particular problem.
