Project management
Project management is a complex task with many challenging responsibilities. Picking the right technique for managing projects is vital for successful project delivery. The way an individual manages work is defined by the techniques used, as well as tools adopted. There are many techniques available that could be used to improve the management of projects. Some necessitate computer with supportive software while others are used manually. The Program Evaluation Review Technique (PERT) and Gantt Charts are two techniques which could be used to improve the management of projects (PMI, 2017). Using the PERT would improve projects by ensuring enhanced planning together with the scheduling of events. PERT also provides better projecting of resource necessities. It further ensures identification of repetitive planning patterns hence simplifying project planning. Implementing PERT would give the project sponsor and stakeholder the ability to see and thus reschedule activities to mirror interproject dependencies (PMI, 2017). It also provides the project sponsor and stakeholder an overview of the expected completion time, probability of completion before the set time, and the activities that affect competition. Implementing the Gantt chart would also benefit the project sponsor and stakeholder by ensuring they avoid resource overload, and ensuring they see activities overlap and task dependencies. A Gantt chart is used to show calendar time task assignments in days, weeks or months. A Gantt chart can improve the project by allowing comparisons of different projects to determine risk and resource allocation. It also enables better project control because it promotes clear communication, and enables the project team to report results at each level (Kashyap, 2019). Using a Gantt chart would give make it easy for the project sponsor and stakeholder to develop what-if scenarios. It would also give them an easy to understand visual display of the scheduled task.
