Poverty and the possible ways of addressing it
In accordance with the first article, poverty has been an issue not only in developing countries but also in developed countries such as the United States. The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, in particular, has been of great help to people. This can be attributed to the fact that in addition to the provision of food, the system also ensures that food is delivered in the best way possible. The community in the article can be characterized by Medicaid, which works in close supervision to ensure that food is timely delivered to people and in the best way. This has greatly helped in dealing with poverty levels in the Unitec States considering the fact that it a first world country where poverty is not supposed to be an issue as it is the case in developing nations. The best way to deal with poverty is by creating employment opportunities for economically disadvantaged individuals in society.
In the second article, the author, who is white, does not believe in the fact that he can also benefit from food stamps. One thing that the author is unaware of is the fact that poverty does not choose. This means that poverty can affect anyone. The most important thing is that in the case of poverty, it is essential to recognize that dealing with poverty requires the willingness of being helped irrespective of ethnicity or any other aspect. Categorizing oneself with the rich in a community does not make a person rich hence it is advisable to accept one’s situation a way of progress. Self-reliance is an essential aspect of life, but this does not seem to work in the case of poverty. The reason for this argument is that accepting being helped makes things better hence overcoming the challenges associate with poverty.
In summary, the two articles are based on poverty and the possible ways of addressing it. The authors have a close connection, although in absentia of each other because in addition to being away from each other, they deal with one topic, which is poverty. In addition to addressing the issue of poverty, they also focus on postulating the possible ways of dealing with it which is acceptance of one’s situation as well as receiving the available help from organizations such as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program. The most important thing to note from the two articles is the fact that poverty is not chosen and neither is it a personal willingness. Dealing with it requires acceptance and abandoning the concept of self-reliance and depending on the possible way of making a better life out of poverty. Concerting poverty to riches is a simple thing that only requires self-acceptance and approval to available ways of being helped, which at the end, help in being a better person.
