Introduction

Different writers and people have argued the idea that all men are created equally by their creator and hold equal rights both from the right to life, happiness, and liberty. The argument is so that people can avoid racism and enslave people. In case people get deprived of their freedom, and they will be faced with a choice to be defiant and oppose their oppressor. Opposing always result in revolutions which are brought by people getting deprived of their rights to liberty. Philosophers and scientists have tried to study man and society to see how a man behaves when it comes to civil society. Furthermore, history has proven that with time man will always try to fight out of any oppression situations irrespective of the oppressor’s dominancy.

Haynes points on liberty and freedom

Haynes tries to argue that democracy and freedom are a principle that cannot get separated from humans, and it’s the law of nature to see people strive for their freedom and liberty. He also argues that it’s natural for humans to oppose anyone who is trying to deprive them of their freedom and independence. Furthermore, Haynes articulates that democracy is a jewel that gets given to man from the heavens, and anyone who takes it away from another man does so in his own accord. Furthermore, he provides that the principle of liberty is equal to all regards of whether one is white or black, but superiority should not come from the privilege that one holds.

Haynes talks about how people that get involved in the slave trade try to justify their actions, but what they fail to know is that a person in need of his freedom and liberty will go to the extent of dying to acquire freedom. Furthermore, the need for freedom and democracy will always push to bloodshed since the en-slaved people will always try to fight for their god has given right. Besides that, liberty will always be equal to all men, and every precious thing to one is valuable to the other regardless of their skin color. And no one has a right to take the God-given privileges of another without their consent.

How Hynes uses the principle of enlightenment to argue his point (200)

Haynes uses the faith of enlightenment to support his position on liberty and freedom by focusing on various works by great thinkers and philosophers. He first looks at the works of Thomas Hobbes, a mathematician, and another philosopher known as John Locke. The two great men were the first to study man and his society using a scientific approach. They bridged science and philosophy to understand social and humans behavior. Analyzing of the community and human behavior gets brought to them from their personal experiences where Hobbes had witnessed the execution of King Charles 1and Locke had seen the glorious revolution that reinstated the Stuarts, William, and Mary to the throne. Foremost, Hobbes believed that human was competitive, and fear was wanted motivated man to civil society. On the other hand, Locke saw that men lived in a tolerant and cooperative community, and civil society was only necessary to protect their natural rights. As an enlightenment thinker, Locke believed that people have a duty to over through any ruler who does not defend and uphold their natural rights and freedom.

Another enlightenment thinker, like Immanuel Kant, believed that all moral judgments come from rational thought, and whatever is deemed right is always right and verse versa. He further states that policies do not protect human rights will still be bound to change. Besides him, another thinker known as Voltaire talked about enlightenment philosophy, which spearheaded that citizens should advocate for social change, and believed in freedom of speech and religion. Several other philosophers and thinkers tried to argue on the subject of freedom and liberty concerning society.

Haynes tries to argue his point in the declaration of independence, where he says that it is in nature of man to separate themselves from anyone who is against the laws of nature and natures of God entitlements. Declaration of Independence holds that all men are created equal and have been given all rights of freedom, liberty, and life by their creator. Haynes argues that people are entitled to abolish any form of government that goes against their natural rights and can establish another one in its place. Furthermore, people have a right to be against any person who acts like a tyrant, and that person has no right to rule over them. The declaration of independence shows how Haynes argues his principle of liberty and freedom and how everybody has a right to freedom and liberty and can go against anyone who acts contrary

Can the idea of human enlightenment and human slavery be balanced with slavery?

Human enlightenment and human slavery can be balanced with slavery since if people are more enlightened about their natural laws on freedom and liberty, they will always be against any form of slavery subjected to them. Knowledgeable people will never get subjected to slavery, and if so, they will rise against their oppressors. Furthermore, in enlightenment, every person has a right to his freedom of life and happiness and should not be subjected to slavery. The two ideas can get balance concerning slavery since they are against any form of slavery and oppression.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Haynes gives a vivid argument when it comes to the principle of liberty and freedom. He tries to show how people should not get subjected to oppression or victimization at any point in time or by any ruler. Furthermore, he gives several enlightenment principles about how other philosophers and thinkers look at the idea of natural freedom and their take on the same. Besides that, his argument shows that from centuries of year’s people always rise against the tyrant, and it always results in blood shade. Thus, leaders should try and uphold the rule of law and protect their citizens’ rights.
