Procrastination analysis

The findings of the study indicate that I am not in the habit of procrastinating. It indicates that there are rare instances of procrastination when it comes to household chores, school work, and jobs. Either, sometimes I procrastinate when I am obliged to do a task which is a way of rebelling. Delays may happen in delivering tasks since I am not always organized. Either, I may find myself desiring to choose more pleasurable tasks since I do find frustration quite unpleasant. I am also somewhat a perfectionist, which makes me decide to do a job until it meets my standards. Sometimes I avoid dealing with relationship issues or even avoid dealing with health matters.

Procrastination is not purely a matter of being lazy or having poor time management skills; however, it can be traced back to complex psychological reasons (Klingsieck, 2013). To overcome procrastination, one has to understand the reasons for doing it, and the role procrastination serves in life. It is not possible to overcome it without understanding the main problem. One of the ways is by understanding time management tools and techniques. Not all methods are feasible. For instance, those techniques that are inflexible and place more importance on the magnitude of work increase fear and anxiety, thus resulting in procrastination. Therefore, one should choose the ones that reduce fear, anxiety, and emphasize on rewards and satisfaction of completing a work. Also, one should not make a big ‘to make’ list since it may cause stress and anxiety(Klingsieck, 2013). Therefore, one should break the big tasks into small slots that are flexible and that offer one a lot of satisfaction and enjoyment of the work done. This means that one has to find productive reasons on why they should be involved in tasks. These positive reasons are not the same as doing work out of fear or anxiety. Another to get a positive attitude is to focus on your goals or see the ‘big picture’ while doing daily activities. Either one has to stay actively engaged in their goals and their daily activities. This means you are not going to get into tasks that weaken your motivation.

The findings were just like I expected since I rarely procrastinate my activities. However, I do not consider myself a perfectionist like the findings indicate, which somehow puzzled me. The most critical area that I need to focus on is attending to my health issues. Sometimes I put off dealing with personal health and wellbeing, which can significantly affect me in the future. To improve my attention to health, I will have to create a close relationship with my doctor so that I can always communicate with him when I need him. The biggest obstacle that can prevent me from attaining my goal would be failing to consistent in what I do. I need to put more emphasis on consistency so that I can be able to access health care even when I am in a far place from my doctor. I need to be focused on and actively involved in attaining this goal. Either, increasing my focus on personal relationships would be a significant step since I would get close people who can walk with me in this weakness..
