Klaus Mikaelson was born in the 11th century in a family of seven children where Mikaelson is the fourth child. Mikaelson is the only child in the family who has a different father. His biological father, Ansel, who was the leader of the famous werewolf tribes, was killed Esther’s husband upon knowing of her cheating. After the death of her youngest child, Esther turned all her remaining children immortal using her witchcraft due to her fear of losing all her children. Klaus has a very complicated personality, and all he desires is to be accepted for who he is. He has also gone through so much for a long time, and this has caused him so much pain, which has impacted how he relates to people. Moreover, Klaus also does not always deal with situations in the right manner, but since everyone makes wrong decisions, he should not have judged himself as he did. Klaus has endured several unfortunate events since he was a child who has impacted on his feelings.
Klaus Mikaelson shows signs of paranoid personality disorder. This is because Niklaus shows a strange way of thinking as he thinks that the parents do not have kind thoughts about their children. In his reply to his father Ansel, Klaus recognizing how appealing his father’s offer to him was but was reluctant to grab it since he said he has never seen a parent having a benevolent force towards his child. This showcases that he did have strange thinking. Additionally, Klaus also was paranoid since he showed signs of mental conditions in some of the strange things that he did. Klaus displayed signs of adverse mental conditions with his thinking that a parent cannot have good intentions towards his or her children.
Furthermore, when his father asked to help him in raising his daughter, he declined to say that his father would be used by Ester to get to his daughter. Due to his paranoia, Klaus ended up killing his father even though all his life, all he ever desired was to meet his biological. These actions proved that Klaus was paranoid since they are weird, and a person with normal mental conditions would not do it.
Klaus Mikaelson also endured many years of abuse from his father, which might have affected his psychology. For centuries Mikaelson was raised by his father, and he did torment him physically and also mentally. This was for no reason, and it escalated after his stepfather realized that Mikaelson is not his child. This made Mikaelson chase Niklaus everywhere after they were turned into vampires, and this made him kill Niklaus. Additionally, Mikaleson also went and murdered and burned all the population as he wanted to destroy everything that Niklaus loved. This proved that the Mikaelson developed and mental condition because of the torture that he went through in his childhood.
Klaus Mikaelson also shows signs of mental disorder because, at an early age, his rage and ruthlessness and lack of mercy had turned like somebody who does not have any feelings. This was caused by the physical and mental tortures that he received from his father. Moreover, this was sustained as he grew since the psychological scars still tormented him. However, since he was a genius, he could think through his problems and come up with a solution that he desired. This made him always act in his instincts. This was both impressive and practical; however, it was dangerous since his thinking was still affected by the past, and therefore, he always merciless decisions.
Klaus Mikaelson also had signs of insanity since he always did the same thing several in the same way and expected different results. This is because he had been in pain from the mental health issues for almost one millennium. Whenever his feelings were hurt, he always had a likelihood of striking them at anyone and always someone close to him. Despite this having adverse impacts always, he never changed. Instead of Klaus changing by learning how to control his hanger, he ever tried to justify his decisions. He also never intended to say sorry or show any signs of being sad because he was the strongest creature that existed around. His actions displayed a disorder in his phycology since it seems hanger made lack humanity because when angered, he would lash out his hanger on the people around. This mental disorder was created and held on by the memories and pain that he went through in his childhood.
To cure the disorder of Klaus Mikaelson, the psychoanalytic theory wil be practical. Treatment by psychoanalysis is in line with the theory that our past determines our present. This is because we usually are not informed that our experiences affect us. Agonizing feelings are likely to remain in the unconscious minds and impact on our current mood and behavior. These contribute to issues with self-esteem, personality, work, and relationship. In the case of Klaus Mikaelson, psychoanalysis will help him take control of the influences that the past experiences have had on his current mental condition. To execute this process, the therapist has to frequently meet Klaus Mikaelson like once a week, and the therapy may last for several weeks. This process involves making Klaus gain insight and also awareness of the unconscious forces, which in his case is the physical and mental torture that he went through and has impacted on his current mental condition. The therapist then has to provoke emotional responses and a way of gaining control of their defense mechanisms.
In this process also, the success of the therapy lies in the ability to tackle possible stressful and past experiences. This would enable Klaus to control his feelings, behaviors, and experiences. This is essential as it will help him to gain knowledge on the unconscious forces that impacts his actions, relationship, and also self-worth. The therapy progress would be assessed by the goals that are set by Klaus and the therapist. This will be based on the outcomes of the therapy. This includes gaining insight into the unconscious forces as the first step of the progress. Secondly, after a while, the assessment will be done to test if Klaus has developed the emotional responses towards his past painful experiences. Lastly, the assessment would be targeted at determining if Klaus can be able to control his stress and past experiences. His behaviors can show thiss, and hence if he were able to behave responsibly he would have overcome his mental disorder. To ensure that the psychoanalysis is successful, a qualified therapist should take Klaus through the process.
