The non-white audiences are dependent on the several factors in the pop culture listening and assimilation which include the characters depicted in the scene, the author of the pop and rap culture and also the setting of the intended audience. Generally, the non-white audiences are used in the typescripts of those whites especially in the pop culture and media though there is majorly a lot of impacts that affect them especially the effect of low representation (Klosterman, pg.3). Majorly, non-white audiences chose to do with the establishment of their very own representation in the media like having programs in the American television, participating and shooting of movies with non-white characters in large numbers among others. Though there is a challenge of putting this up especially criticism, the non-whites also decided to take an initiative for the better, the non-white consumers choose to reject the status quo in the rap culture and they work hard so that they establish equal representation.
If the point of pop culture is in part to find common ground with the characters you see, what does it mean that the VERY large majority of those characters are white; what does it mean especially if you are a non-white consumer of pop culture?
Being the significant point in the rap culture that the characters depicted in the movies and Television’s, the consumption of classics of pop culture is accompanied by many consequences which I honestly think they contain many white characters whereby the realistic and diverse notions of life and struggle are depicted (Wiatrowski and Barker, pg. 15). Let’s take for example while watching a TV, a girl character who is popular, rich typecast and pretty, which its rather hard to relate to, one can still enjoy the program show since its typical if the character is white. Do you feel that pop culture in this way fails those who are not white and those who are not privileged enough to find (actual) common ground with the characters on TV, film?
Yes, I believe and feel that the pop culture fails the non-whites since the characters in the programs and movies being from the minority groups such as the blacks are not fully recognized even if they perform much better than the whites In the TV and films.
What are the real-life consequences of what seems to be a very race-specific agenda by those who design the material that we all (regardless of race) consume?
The major real-life challenge that producers and others who participate in the designing of the material content that we consume is racism. It has become one of the most discrimination methods for the last few centuries whereby the state, global governments, the profit organizations and Non-governmental organizations, religious leaders and organizations have been fighting endlessly through investing in resources and time in order to stop racism and its impacts. Nevertheless, music, TV shows, and movies have played a crucial role in the broadcasting of the racism memorandum especially when producing the programs. Racism content materials spread hatred in the community and societies whereby it breaks the peace that has been there and that has been fought for by others (Razack, pg. 21). The racism innards lead to mistrust, lack of harmony in nations and cuts down development rate leading to poverty and escalated crime rates.
The other challenge and impact are the elevating of the whites undermining and despising the blacks which leads to a emotional trauma in the culture whereby the non-whites feel that they are unappreciated and undervalued in the pop culture. Being not involved in the this will lead to them not being an enterprise in the propagation of economic development in the nation since they fear that they will not partake the labor fruits.
What are the consequences in the mind of the non-white consumer who must consume white pop culture in order to fit in with the people around us who are also consuming this white pop culture?
In the production of music, it should be universal in that the producers should know that it’s not only the whites will purchase and listen only but also the blacks will do. The non-whites can also adapt in the listening of music that has a target audience of the whites if they want to feel fit in the white society without any obligation. Music should be produced in a way that it unites the whites and the blacks thus not intended to bring differences between the two (Klosterman, pg. 8). The blacks can enjoy music that is intended for the whites and whites also enjoy music intended for the blacks without fearing the religion and race that can intimidate the listener’s minds of the pop music or the inter-cultural music. Through music, the barriers which the blacks and whites face should be diminished through music or any other medium form like movies and TV programs. The consequences of listening to White’s music by the non-whites music and vice versa is that in their minds they develop friendliness in the pop culture that is vital especially in this dynamic era of extremism in the promotion of unity to everyone.
