RE: SEXUALL EDUCATION PROGRAMME

             Due to the increasing rate of sex trafficking among the youth, I decided to write to you to put more pressure to the education curriculum board to change the Ontario Sexual Education Curriculum and also to increase the opportunities in sexual education in your school since it has the largest population of teenagers who are the major target in sex trafficking. Though the sexual education curriculum was introduced to the school system of education, it seems that it is not of great help in combating this disaster. I suggest that the curriculum to be changed or upgraded so as to save the lives of these students. This is because many of them are exposed to sex trafficking by other students or members of the community and before they realize, they have already become sex slaves in bondages difficult to cut them off. Moreover, the Toronto Public Health should also be included due to the fact that sex trafficking has a negative impact on the youth.

According to the National Human Trafficking Hotline, almost four million people are forced to activities of sexual assault worldwide. Moreover, almost five hundred cases of sex trafficking have been reported from your school which is something worrying. The Federal law states that any individual of 18 years of age and below involved in commercial sex forcefully is termed as sex trafficking victim (Estes et al, 2017). Some of the students are lured by businessmen and women to sell sex so as to get jobs in dancing and modeling which are very common among the youth. The students of Canada need to be aware of the causes of exposing them to sex trafficking and the tactics the traffickers use in order to protect themselves (Sanson et al, 2015). These causes include poverty and high rate of unemployment which make them more vulnerable to the disaster. The traffickers tend to use this as a way of targeting them promising them of a good amount of money and also good care of their families.

Child sex trafficking has devastating consequences which include physical injuries since some of them are forced, a psychological trauma which affects them emotionally and psychologically. Moreover, these victims are exposed to mental torture. Also, they are subjected to high risks of having unwanted pregnancies which lead to abortion. Moreover, cases of diseases such as HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted disease are very high in Canada among sex trafficked students (Sanson et al, 2015). Social ostracism, drug abuse and addiction, malnutrition and death are also some of the many effects sex trafficking has the youth.

The topic of sex trafficking among the youth also included in the Ontario sex education curriculum but very shallowly yet it is the main issue of having it tutored in the school system. I think that these the above information should be included in the curriculum of every level because they will have helped in creating awareness. More talks and discussions from survivors of sex trafficking should be promoted since these people have been to such experience. The introduction of this system doesn’t have cons but pros. It will not only offer more advanced education about the disaster but also make the students aware of sex, child sexual abuse, and sexually transmitted diseases. Additionally, it will make the student conversant with how to prevent themselves from sex trafficking.
