REACTIONS TO MONSANTO’S LEGAL ACTION AGAINST FARMERS
INTRODUCTION
Monsanto is a leading company of genetically engineered seeds, and which believed Indian farmers’ suicides in the Bt cotton belt. When you mention genetic engineering, many people will have immediate negative thoughts, but should also know that it improves nutrition, facilitates efficient production, and helps third world countries to develop.
BODY
The dispute between Monsanto and farmers in the United States has sometimes raised lawsuits because Monsanto imposes a patent agreement on farmers, requiring them to purchase new seed varieties for every season. Still, some farmers do not honor this agreement. However, Monsanto has paid for its inventions and its continuous research and development. The study conducted is done for its customers, who are farmers.
Rats fed on Monsanto’s NK603 maize and/ exposed to its glyphosate were more likely to grow tumors and multiple bodily deformities. However, the European Food Safety Authority found that the researchers’ study has the insufficient scientific quality to be considered as valid for risk assessment. Despite many critics and researches are attempting to reveal the harm of genetic engineering, including the blame on Monsanto’s evil to farmers. Such reports embed people with fears and negative thoughts on genetic engineering, but the truth may be different, and not all studies are accountable.
Monsanto introduced a new biotech crop, glyphosate-resistant sugar beets, and a variety of GM crops that adopted continues to in China and India today.
CONCLUSION
In conclusion, it is inaccurate and simply wrong to blame Monsanto’s invention in Bt cotton belt as the primary cause of farmer suicides in Indian farmers’ suicides have been reported even in developed countries such as Australia and Britain. Genetically modified foods are an efficient solution to one of the most concerning issue-world hunger-and they enable farmers in third world countries to grow more crops more quickly and for less cost.
