This is the journal where each of you will contribute by discussing recent space news that you find interesting and worth sharing. Your task is to read a brief news article about astronomy discoveries or space exploration, and summarize it for your colleagues in about 300-500 words. The journals will be in private mode (visible only to you and to the instructor) until a specified date, when they will be opened for the rest of the class to share their entries.
In your journal entry answer each question below with a few sentences:
- Briefly summarize: What is the article about? Why did you choose this topic, what attracted your attention?
- What are the main ideas (or research results) that you would like to share? How do they fit within existing knowledge?
- Who conducted the study and where was it done?

In this journal you will share what you have found out about Canadian contributions to astronomy and space exploration in about 300 words. This could be a Canadian astronomer and his or hers discovery, or Canadian-made instrument for modern space research and exploration (within the last 20 years), or a Canadian astronaut. Use the textbook inserts as one of your references about Canadian astronomers to summarize what attracted them to the field, where they studied and what their main contributions are to astronomy or space exploration. If your entry is about an instrument or tool – describe what data it collects, the mission it is used on and where it was developed. Add your reference(s) at the end.
