Executive summary
Union Carbide Corporation is a company founded in nearly 1934. Around the 1970s Indian government encouraged investors for al over the world to invest in India. The government suggested that the local investor have a high stake of about 22% of the company’s shares. Union carbide corporation manufacturers: batteries, carbon products, welding equipment, industrial chemicals, pesticides, and marine products.
The corporation was allowed to establish a plant in Bhopal with over 14 plans in five divisions. It employed more than 9000 workers lowering the unemployment rate in India. On 3rd Dec 1984, a loud blast was heard from the plant, which was accompanied by a release of methyl isocyanate gas, killing 3000 people immediately, and in the subsequent weeks and months, a death toll of 15000 was reported. The company is closely related to the International Chemical since it produces similar products in case of the disaster, the company should consider the following recommendations.
Health, safety, and environment
In the event of the disaster occurring in the company, the management should be in the forefront to buy and give safety equipment to those around the plant to protect them from the toxic chemicals that would have been emitted amid the blast.. Secondly, antitoxic laboratory drugs should be given to the community leaving around the plant to reduce the adverse health effects. During a disaster, the plant emits poisonous gases to the environment. After the tragedy in Bhopal, a brown cloud was formed. The company never explained or taken any measures to contain the gas. Our company should bring out alternatives such as spraying antitoxins to reduce environmental hazards.
Chief financial officer
Amid the disaster, I will finance the medical bills and burials of those affected and compensate for the grieving families. Further, as corporate social responsibility, I will fund the education of the children born with disabilities, which could have been caused by the gases.
Public relations
In the case of the disaster, I will communicate with the government and the health organization regarding the composition of the gases released and the possible implication so that the best drugs would be used to minimize the adverse effects. Also, i will explain to the public causes and measures the company is taking to mitigate the implications of the gas leak. Finally, I will be a listening-ear of the company working with the emergency institution to ensure any complaint, and the question is heard and fully answered as expected.

Industrial disasters do happen. Many times these accidents are not deliberately instead caused by unexpected failures.
