Reflection journal on the progressive movement
A hundred years back, Theodore Roosevelt began the third best party presidential bid of the historical backdrop of America. It was a summit of Progressive party gathering in Chicago in August 1912. Its impact regardless of everything echoes through American politics today.
One of the lessons learnt in Roosevelt Progressiveness is that revolution is the remedy to reform. With socialists, communists and rebel powers getting powers over the Atlantic, this was a phase committed to Roosevelts conviction that ‘‘reform is an antidote to revolution.’’ Roosevelts Progressive gathering did not avoid backing women entitlement to cast a ballot, ending of child labour, least wages, assurance against disorder and joblessness, crusading change and political decision change. The thoughts that Roosevelt worked for did work in time, for example, growing the right to cast a ballot, instituting social security, the battle for extending of medical coverage and consummation youngster work.
Advice to the next group of students taking this course is that they should all know the fight for freedom and rights such as the right to health insurance, right to vote, also the fight to end child labour. There has been democracy in America since Roosevelt’s progressiveness to date. I can exercise my right to vote, right to health insurance and well enacted social security. Besides, political fault lines endure to this day.
In conclusion, there was a need for a revolution to reform America, as Roosevelt stated it. The progressive movement fought for the freedom and rights that Americans enjoy to this day.
