Reflection Paper:Courage
Out of the six virtues, I want to attain courage. Apart from being a vital element in daily human operations and an essential leadership attribute, courage plays a critical role in the workplace as well. When a person lacks any fear, that is not having courage because even the courageous individuals feel fear; however, the ability to manage and overcome fear is the ultimate objective of being courageous. The fear of failure or disappointment often makes individuals with no courage to be reluctant or unable to take the right action. To avoid being overly confident, fear is utilized, and this ensures that people make the right action
The success or development of a business or a project depends on the kind of leadership that is practiced within the organization. And to establish an effective leadership quality, courage should be the center of reference at all times. In the past, the task of a leader to forge a pathway forward and motivate others to follow was more comfortable compared to the current workplace. No difference can be achieved without courage because one lacks the proper conversations that influence change. And when change is reached, a leader needs to have the courage to be persistent even though the modifications might result in serious drawbacks. Courageous leaders rise again and develop a new strategy to get back in the market by reasoning differently.
Workplace confidence involves reassessing the values, attitudes, expectations, and management problems that have companies trapped in obsolete operating modes. It does not mean being heroic or brave to show exceptional abilities or to overcome disappointment with selfish responses; perhaps it applies to the desire and determination to overcome terror, confusion, coercion, or challenge at work through possessing in-depth awareness of one’s conviction, empowerment, and perspective. Courage is about practicing the use of one’s heart and mind to behave in a truthful way. Courageous acts encourage a person to choose contemplation over the action, which implies they are not forced to respond quickly to address why an individual’s feeling is false, but instead to recollect one’s values and culture to cope with the circumstance rationally and peacefully in order to prevent uncomfortable situations.
Because of bad experiences and memories, the personality of courage that exists in each human sometimes falters, even though the success of many things depends on it. Courage is a necessity for individuals to succeed in every situation of life, especially at the workplace. The first thing to do to attain this virtue is by determining the reasons for lack of courage and working out a plan to change my behavior and build confidence step by step actively. Another thing is evaluating my specific fears because it helps me address them through a given plan, and in the meantime, I will be building courage both in work and recreation time.
The plan of addressing these fears involves determining the causes of the fears because it allows me to counter thoughts that influence a lack of courage with positive thoughts. And this aids me in achieving the right mindset frame to nurture courage and confidence. Acknowledging the levels of my courage is also an important thing to attain courage because apart from developing a positive mindset, it helps me come up with solutions to reduce circumstances that foster timidity. Developing courage is not a one day show and therefore requires a well-structured plan to grow my courage in a set time.
