Reflective Clinical Observations
- Reflective Clinical Observations: Undertake a minimum of two reflective clinical observations on appropriate nursing skills /nursing situations /nursing occasions of care relevant to the selected topic. The aim of the observations will be to gather the required information to complete the template ‘Reflective Clinical Observation 2a’ and ‘Reflective Clinical Observation 2b’ in the clinical portfolio under the following criteria:
- Describe the nursing skills/nursing situations/nursing occasions of care observed (50 words)
- Provide details of how the information was collected (50 words)
- Detail how or how not the observed nursing skills/nursing situations/nursing occasions of care met the required policy/protocol/procedure/guidelines (200 words)
- Reflect on the observation and describe the aspects that were conducted well and those that needed improvement to ensure quality care and patient safety. Also include comments on facilitators and barriers to implement the policy/protocol /procedure/guidelines (200 words)
- Final Summary of Findings: Write a final reflection on the clinical observations undertaken in the template ‘Final Summary of Findings’provided in the clinical portfolio.
- Reflect on how well the NSQHS standard(s) were met and the strategies employed to implement the standard effectively.
- Reflect on how your knowledge and clinical experience gained during this clinical placement will influence your future delivery of evidenced-based nursing practice to ensure patient safety and quality of care (500 words).
