Introduction
Coco channel is a very well talented woman who actually worked a lot to change the fashion and design in the world. She is a designer of fashion whose real names are Gabrielle Chane. She describes fashion as what one prefers to wear and on the other hand that unfashionable is what is preferred by others. She was born in August 1983 in France. Coco channel once opened a boutique from which she earned her living. The boutique was all about selling woman clothes such as dresses and others, jewelry and many other women fashion products. She actually at the same time made new many discoveries on these items. This helped her to attract more clients to her business hence her prosperity (Coco, 57). She also introduced short black dresses and perfumes which were preferred by many people though some people were against these discoveries. Among the major discoveries she made include the woman pants, jewels, perfumes, men trousers, jerseys, channel suit and many others.
The pants for women
For a long time women were actually not allowed to wear pants. This was not a good idea at all and it made them to fight a tough battle to achieve the policy of wearing pants. Coco Channel was the first person to design and introduce woman pants. The pants she introduced were very smart and at the same time of a high quality. This hence improved the living style of the woman because they were able to access pants and also allowed to wear them (Bond, 78). Coco made pants of different waist sizes that suited every person. This was actually a different design as compared to others. But once she was old, she may be regretted that a little. Don't use plagiarised sources.Get your custom essay just from $11/page
She had a high affection with the idea of femininity and aimed at the woman being beautiful in pants, for the reason of ensuring something more romantic about the dresses. At last Coco said that the fact that over 70% of the women in the world go to have their dinner date with pants is sad. And I can imagine how for such kind of woman like her that manifested itself. She actually worked hard and to her best to come up with these pants. A lot of women were actually very happy about this idea. This is one of her best involvement in changing the fashion and design as well as the living style of the woman.
The Coco perfume
She presented her first perfume to the world in the year 1921 which was highly appreciated by many people. The perfume she introduced lacked natural scent and this was her aim because she just wanted to be unique in her discovery. She well achieved her goal at the same time. The scent from this perfume was very good and interesting and it was mainly for the young women. She hence attracted many young women to the use of her perfume.
She was not the first woman that came up with her own scent but she was the first woman ever that made her own scent and called it after her name (Breward, 41). This is actually how the uniqueness came from it. From this point many companies and individuals adopted this criterion of naming products after their names but not after a person and not some beautiful name.
The fake jewels
At the starting wearing of jewels was a taboo and it was prohibited by many people. It was very rare for someone to wear jewels. Anyone who was involved in wearing jewels always wore the original stones such as diamond pearls and others. This was actually disgusting hence only the rich individuals could afford to purchase these jewels (Crane, 395-397). At the same time people were only allowed to wear one jewel at a time. Coco them aimed at improving this situation to enable many people be in the place to acquire and wear these jewels. She then introduced those light and fake jewels which were affordable by many people in the world. This then made jewels be common among many individuals due to their low prices.
The little black dress
In those times that Coco Chanel lived black clothes were not something that people wore often. This is because black colors were only worn at funerals or during those sad moments. Coco actually made a step to introduce the common use of black clothes which are now commonly used by many people in different places and activities. No elegant woman was supposed to be seen in black colors. Black was her color and other dark related colors (Jackson, 198). In 1926 Coco presented to the world the little black dress which was a hit. This was something the people spend some long time talking and thinking about. Some people liked the discovery while others were against it but Coco was satisfied with all this. This discovery worked very well to change the life of many women in their wearing code.
Women sports clothes
Coco saw the importance of women to wear light and flexible clothes just like many. This idea pushed her to design those sports clothes particularly for the women to make the feel flexible when dealing with their activities. This made very many women individuals to be happy about her great idea. This is one among the best discoveries she made on women clothing (Lehnert, 32). This was so because many women were actually tired of the heavy dresses and at the same time these sports clothes were highly stylish.
Luxury and taste
Coco was in a good place and made use of the opportunity to come up with clothes of high standards. What forced her to this implementation were the tastes and preferences of the people in the current market (Okonkwo, 42). This was so because many people aimed at classic and high standard products especially when it comes to clothes, jewels and other related design and fashion products. For instance she went ahead to throw away the life jackets and instead introduced the sports jackets which were preferred by many people.
Women trousers
Although women often had to wear trousers when working in male related jobs, Coco played an important role in introducing their popularity as a fashion item in the world. While in beach she used to wear these trousers instead of pants to avoid exposing herself and her bogy to the people around because the trousers covered her body well (Presley, 310-312). At the end, she regretted how her careless decision and innovations affected the course of fashion and design mechanisms. This was so because many women turned to the wearing of trousers always regardless of the time and place they are in.
Jersey
Chanel was the first designer to use and introduce jersey. At this specific time jersey was reserved for men’s underwear and other clothes but not women. This kind of clothe was very useful as it was light and suited most of the activities people were involved in carrying out (Roberts et al, 660-663). She was forced to arrive at this finding in order to suit people’s lifestyle and make them flexible when doing their daily activities. This resulted from the fact that these clothes were made from a good and suitable material such as fabric and others.
Suits
The designer was one of the first to borrow from men clothes for women’s clothes design when she came up with these kinds of suits. Coco actually the importance of designing the men’s suit in order to balance her findings and improvements as far as design and fashion is concerned (Steele, 45). These suits attracted many people and hence many individuals were impressed with the impact hence resulting to high and improved standards of living. The suit was favored by its high quality hence many people were in need of it. This made many people like the activities of Coco and her designs. This was one of the important discoveries she made concerning men designs.
Conclusion
Coco has actually made a great advancement when it comes to the changing of fashion and design among both genders but mostly the women. She has greatly influenced the change especially on clothes and jewels. This has improved the living styles of the people as well as standards. She has been a great impact when it comes to the industry of clothing, jewels and any other related fashion and design department.
