PETER DOAS,

Thank you for your post, which expressed your political compass score. In your test, you scored economic -3.26 and authoritarianism -4.50. This score represents you as a left-libertarian, located near Gandhi, who believes in the supreme value of each individual.

I would identify yourself as conservative in the English sense. Still, You do have some reasonably leftish views on keeping an eye on the suspicious activities of multi-national corporations, workers’ rights in general, and environmental issues.  I agree with your indication of how Left libertarians believe in individual freedom, equal rights, and the government protecting its citizens. They are also opposed to the idea of private ownership of land, oil, and other natural resources, which affects equality in society. On the other hand, you have shown how they defend civil liberties like equal rights for homosexuals, endorse drug decriminalization, open borders, and oppose most military (Magstadt, T. M. 2017). You believe the individual should have personal freedom apart from authority unless the authority is justified. The burden remains on the authority figure to show it is legitimate. At the same time, You support the government regulating the economic system to control special power like corporations from becoming too strong and dominating society at the expense of the public. This indicates that monitoring inflation is of great importance compared to controlling unemployment. I think both are just as important.

I agree but do not see how this ranks you as authoritarian or libertarian. Your child’s school must instill religious values to say yes implies that you want to force my religious views on others. I agree with the argument that people are born as selfish a-holes and have to be civilized through education. That includes instilling patriotism, tolerance, honesty, which can be considered as religious values. Still, the alternative is not to raise them with moral values and have them possibly wind up as sociopaths.

KIMBERLY SALA,

Thank you for your post. You expressed your opinions from your discussion in a logical manner, and you showed what you scored as it was required, Economic Left/Right -3.26, and Social Libertarian/ Authoritarian -4.50. You have taken yourself to be politically vigorous. I believe that the dark political thought of you was given rise to after taking the test of the political compass. I agreed with you when you stated that citizens born in a particular country should show their duty to respect their country, which is beliefs, and cultures.

On the other hand, I do support you when you say it is not right to stop respecting our country since it was not our choice to be born as native. There are many things, like our name, our junior school, and other things that we cannot decide, and yet we are proud of them. Our guardians play an extremely vital role in shaping our national pedigrees for our future. Cultures do vary from one country to another country since it is unique in their way, and it does play an important role in shaping the culture of the entire country ( Magstadt, T. M. 2017). You have shown the value of individualism, which indicates that no two people are alike. Therefore we should be respectful of that since we are all unique and show different abilities.

I support your indication that government involvement is needed to the point where there is total governance. Nobody would want to live in a society that was ruled by oppressive leaders. There would have no value of life as we know it. You have indicated that in life, everybody must learn to be flexible, which will make a specific situation more tolerable. There is no value in fighting a losing battle. However, if we all know, we can make a difference, then we are all in.
