Response to Jorge Montanez-Bosquet
According to Gallup’s assessment, Jorge’s strengths included analytical, deliberate, relator, strategic, and restorative. Jorge highlights that among the five strengths, he only exhibits analytical and deliberate skills. Jorge connects analytical strength with individual ability to scrutinize all the operations, actions, data, facts, and evidence that contributed to the current state of affairs, and this has to come from one’s desire and urge to solve problems and analyze solutions. However, an analytical leader should also demonstrate how the assessed information reaches others through significant influence and collaboration. This is because every individual works in the presence of others. Therefore, the impacts of their decisions, which concerns the overall wellbeing of an organization, are far wider felt.
On the other hand, Jorge points out that people exhibiting deliberate strength portray serious care during decision making, and they anticipate obstacles. Moreover, Jorge highlights his core values to be integrity and excellent communication skills. What is important to note is that integrity encompasses a combination of kindness, honesty, and behaving ethically in an attempt to safeguard the patient’s well being and not just performing in accordance to policy standards. Also, whereas Jorge identifies excellent communication as the key to the deliverance of clear and specific instructions to subordinates, it is as well of the essence to highlight that good communication skills enable leaders to have a better influence on their subordinates.
Finally, Jorge indeed needs to better strategic and restorative strengths to a more effective leader. This is because, being analytical, one needs to analyze relevant matters which are spotted when one is strategic. On the other hand, the enhancement of restorative strength provides better grounds for the building of a deep relationship with work colleagues. This ensures that leaders exert considerable influence on their followers.. Don't use plagiarised sources.Get your custom essay just from $11/page
Response to Stacey Lacy
Lacy found out that her main strength as per Gallop’s assessment includes competition, strategic, maximize, achiever, and significance. She identifies the main themes behind the strengths as goal-driven, hardworking, and personal and team success. She feels that the failure of her main strength to fall under the relationship-building category lessens the ability to exhibit core values such as caring and humility within leadership. According to Lacy blending between leadership strength and core values is paramount in the creation of a productive culture that is characterized by high interaction and motivation among team members, and that is absolutely true.
Lacy proposes that further development of self-assurance and connectedness will enhance her leadership skills. She further feels that she should also strengthen her empathy and wooing skills. This is in reference to the fact that leadership that is characterized by emotional intelligence and expressed empathy exhibits the capacity to balance all situations involving human resource management. Wooing, on the other side, focuses on relationship development and building. However, Lacy does not mention the desire to develop skills that will enhance self-management or the ability to make difficult decisions, despite the skills being fundamental towards the attainment of effective transformational leadership.
Moreover, strengths that stimulate and encourage innovations and creativity by giving meaning and challenge to followers’ work should be advocated for. This is bearing in mind that new challenges are inventible, and what is required is the mechanism that will help leaders and their followers to adapt to them. In the event of handling new problems, transformational leaders need to take an individualized consideration into account. This includes respecting and paying exceptional attention to inter-personal differences, requirements for success, and growth.
