Result lens
Result lens is one of my preferred lenses since I prefer individuality to a given group. In my own case, I get more concerned with my personal goals, but also uphold much respect for autonomy. Also, I appreciate the fact that each people are equal and can make their own decisions more perfectly. The result lens mainly aims at producing and getting positive results for the improvement of the self-worth of a person (Bassell, 2018). Therefore, I would say that my chosen lens reflects everything I do in my life, such as personal, social life, or work. Individuals can achieve more if they choose to set their own personal goals.
Additionally, Result lens ensures that I get to know myself well by paying much attention to my beliefs, behaviors and attitudes. One should always read more about the description of ethical lens and when resonating with other elements belonging to another lens, an individual can start the ethical analysis from home lens. Therefore, being familiar with the blind spots and gifts of the lenses is essential. Consequentialism theory is related to the result lens, and through this relation, I can be in a position of determining what is ethically wrong or right. Mainly, the goals that I have set can help me in deciding which ethical decision I should take.
At my workplace, I always ensure that each person is involved in decision making processes and appreciate their self-worth. It has been a self-reflective and interesting process for me at work. Through the process, I am in a position of avoiding any damages to people around me and I plan to share some of my results with my managers and enable them to take the ethical lens themselves so that they can be in a position of learning more about themselves and others. My ethical lens remains constant in different settings, whereby, at work, I can use it involving my team members in decision making processes. In my personal life, I can use the lens in making wise decisions for me regarding my daily routine. I always interact with both genders and work with them as a team. Therefore, I would say that my chosen lens reflects everything I do in my life, such as personal, social life, or work.
Explain both your primary values and classical virtue(s) from the ELI.
Compare two primary values and one classical virtue from part D2 individually with three of the top five values from the Clarifying Your Values exercise.
From the ELI, my primary value is seeking the greatest good whereby I aim at finding the greatest good in myself and in others. I value and respect individuals who have the chance of living in their own self-interests without depending on others. If a person considers other people, they get the utilitarian approach to ethics, and assess the various actions that should be taken in creating the greatest good among themselves. My classical virtue is temperance, that is, being self-restrained and moderate. As individuals seeks ethical maturity, they getto know more about temperance, become moderate and self-restrained as their desires get moderated by various reasons. For instance, if there is greed among members, one can use moderation approach to stop it from reoccurring. The rationality part of my qualities implies that I use investigations and reasoning when assessing the basic aptitudes that are available. I possess some of the primary virtues, and the classical virtues can be used in balancing the fortitude and temperance while having all the uncertainty and hardship with a lot of courage. The comparison of the top 5 values that I can choose in clarifying the value exercises are; team work, honesty, obedience, action orientation, and customer satisfaction. When I compare these values to my core values and the classical virtues on the ELI, I can clearly see all the similarities in them. They all involve self-control and what the heart wants.
