Reviewing A Professional Article
Content Analysis
The article aims to educate the reader on the opportunities presented by the current low-cost virtual reality technology, and how that technology has the potential to improve the process of design. The article’s intended audiences include VR research and development engineers, VR educators and students, and VR consumers. The authors aim at communicating with VR developers about the advancement changes that have taken place and how it is creating an opportunity for modern VR developers. The article educates VR devices consumers on how to acquire cheap but highly effective devices. For educators and students, the article provides knowledge on changing development patterns for VR devices.
The authors aim at solving the problem of expensive and costly Virtual reality devices by showing how modern virtual reality devices are changing the engineering field. The authors also aim at showing how modern VR devices are impacting the VR engineering application by breaking the barrier to entry. The authors aim at reviewing how technology is changing consumers experience (Coburn, Freeman, & Salmon, 2017). The authors provide a clear definition of virtual reality-based on history (Vorderer et al., 1992); (Steuer, 1992); (Straubhaar & LaRose, 1996).
Proposed solutions- Authors proposed solutions include that there is a change in VR technology. The modern VR technology is smaller and cost-effective; thus are likely to change consumers experience. The authors also propose that these eliminate barriers to entry for new developers of VR technology as the modern developments patterns are likely to break the way of developing VR devices.. The authors conclude that the new VR devices have the potential to improve portions of the design process significantly. The authors indicate that high-quality; low-cost VR experiences that the VR devices could create can enable them to enter the process of engineering in a more prompt manner. The VR devices could be available even to the average engineer, and they could become realities daily (Coburn, Freeman, & Salmon, 2017). Future research should focus on the adoption of VR technology as a way of changing engineering.
I agree with the authors that changing the cost and quality of the VR devices allow the adoption by even the average engineers can improve the experience that the tools give to the consumers as well as the engineers. VR devices are capable of evolving design work while allowing innovative and new solutions to the many issues that the engineers face today. I do not notice any flaws in the article since the authors have been able to indicate clearly with proof that the VR device has the potential of changing the experience of the engineers.
The authors’ work on the article is commendable as they carried out in-depth reviews of various VR devices. Other excellent actions are how the authors compare modern VR devices from those of the past. It is from such comparison that the readers of the article can identify real differences in the changing patterns in the engineering field of VR. One question, I think that the authorsneed to do is to evaluate the actual costs change in costs of these devices and show real data that of the changes that have occurred to help engineers at calculating the ways of developing VR technologies.
If VR devices were adopted for design work, they could lead to improved design work of the engineers and allow innovative and new solutions to a variety of problems faced by the engineers. The adoption, however, would lead to reduced creativity of the people since they would depend so much on the devices.
Style Analysis
The article is not a research article, and rather it is a review article. Therefore, the article does not follow a research paper format of developing a problem, hypothesis, methodology and results. However, the review is systematically written as the authors identify the purpose of the paper, provides the analysis approach and provides a conclusion for the review. The authors did an excellent job in concluding or achieving the goal of the article. It is easy to identify the purpose of the article and arrived at a definite conclusion. The authors also identify the problems that face their review of the VR development review.
The article is well organized. The authors have organized the work in a flowing manner where first they identify various VR devices, reviews the multiple aspects of the technologies, analysis these devices on the basis of various elements, provides a discussion and a conclusion. Through reading and evaluating the paper, I can vouch that it has achieved Michael Markel measures of excellence. The article has achieved professional appearance, accuracy, comprehensiveness, clarity and correctness. I cannot verify on the honesty part but based on the credible sources provided by the authors, and I am inclined to believe the information on the article is honest.
