Rock music has created a debauched lifestyle culture that is majorly associated with drugs and sex. Many of the rocks early stars and their fans were majorly identified with their drinking and drug characters. When the underground rock press emerged, the lifestyle of rock stars became more popular and publicly known. The artists always were in the company of young girls who were attracted to them and often performed sex favors for the band (“Social Effects Of Rock Music,” pg.2). Recognition and popularity of recreational drugs by artists became more frequent and influenced the perception of acceptability and use of drugs among the youth. The rock industry suffered drug-related deaths, including the deaths of great rock artists such as Hendrix Jimi and Janis Joplin. Many rock artists such as Whitney Houston and Steven Tyler have acknowledged fighting addictions to many substances, including alcohol. Even though some use drug has remained ordinary in the rock industry, more enormous effect consequences of consumption of drugs was observed. And anti-drug songs became common in the rock industry, and some of these substances have remained popular with the youth today.

Rock music has led to the formation of collective identity in the United States of America and the world beyond based on temporary interests of music styles characterized by rock music fans. Rock music plays differently in styles from the previous music genres and provides various resources and music pattern identities for the youth. Consequently, listeners of rock music feel free from the restraints of predecessors’ taste and can redefine what fashion is, and this makes them a unique group (“Social Effects Of Rock Music,” pg.4). Listeners of rock music have formed a collective emotional identity; they have had feelings of fulfilling feelings of emotional needs by getting connected with different structures such as listening to love songs for post-traumatic stress disorder cure. Rock music has therefore provided a platform for collective self-expression based on relaxation, pleasure, enjoyment for fun.  Rock music fans from different cultures have been influenced by a common culture and have formed a collective identity with rock music even in the world today. The collective identity of rock music has also been extended amongst the artists, producers, band, and members who have rock music as a collective identity of a rock family. The rock family has identified themselves with a similar lifestyle, dressing cords, and by the display of their sentiments in the rock industry. Consequently, rock listeners have also been influenced by the identity and fallen into the trap after that.

Rock music has dominated the output of emotion. Emotion-like instances have been identified in both the artists and their fans. Most popular rock music, for example, ‘I will always love you’ by Whitney Houston, have recorded emotional words and feelings of love, yearning, and sorrow. Some rock music has a psychological-emotional effect on both the artist and the listeners, which results from the content and rhythm of the song. Rock music has been identified as one of the genres with high records of emotional response. However, rock music does not work to portray emotions in the listener but rather to evoke them because many of the rock artists do not work with music chosen by the experimenter but rather with the ones but select their own music. We could, therefore, argue that rock music has the purpose of primarily expressing an emotional feeling that the listener can easily relate with and appreciate. The rock music singer may be expressing their own feelings, and these feelings could be appropriated to the listener, creating an internal web of emotional expressions between the artists and the listeners.
