Ethics is a systematic and critical analysis of morality, of the moral factors that guide human conduct in a particular society or practice. Also, Ethics are set of moral principles that govern a person’s behavior, shapes up his/her personality, tells him/her what choices to make.. Role of ethics in the society can be illustrated in following ways-

RESPECT for others

An ethical person shows affection towards others. He/she develops COMPASSION and EMPATHY towards marginalized sections of the society, like lending a helping hand to a specially abled person in crossing the road.

By being ethical, one can TOLERATE and ADJUST with diversities that exist around, be it linguistic, regional, religious, and communal. An ethical person believes in BROTHERHOOD.

Being ethical is to be a GOOD CITIZEN by knowing your RESPONSIBILITY and DUTIES towards your nation. An ethical person always OBEYS the laws, be it following traffic rules.

Hence, ethics promote peaceful coexistence, caring for others, and making the society a better place.

Becoming law abiding citizens –

It is ethics which refrain us from braking traffic signal, lying under oath, female feticide etc. especially when the chances of conviction are very less.

Not using law to harm others or to one’s own advantage –

The students struggles to produce their best in their exams. Even once they graduate they will be competent in the job market because they have the required qualifications. Ethical values helps people to remain accountable and transparent in their job positions, hence vices, such as; corruption and embezzlement of public funds. Moreover, ethical values helps the people in position to distribute public resources equally, hence, the marginalized areas and the people benefit equally. Once the people on the top positions are not corrupt, then people don’t lack their basic amenities, such as; drugs in hospital and quality education.

Ethics helps people to elect leaders who are abled and focused towards economic progress. People with good ethical values are not enticed by false politicians during elections. The citizens elect those leaders who are competent and hardworking not because they are lured but due to the manifesto which are promised. Even when elected leaders have the ethical values, they utilizes public resources as well as funds. Leaders remain focused in serving the people in a benevolent way.
