Sanchez Family

Celia Sanchez is the wife to Hector and a mother to 6 children that is Junior, Emilia, Vicki, Gloria, Alejandro, and Carmen. Celia is a woman according to my understanding who is brought up in a society that protects their girl child and teaches them their role in a home. She must have been raised knowing that a woman’s work is to stay at home and care for the family as the husband goes to work. She is a very submissive wife who would do anything to show respect to her husband as well as care for the family. Celia must have grown up in a community where education was not that upraised, but rather the community valued the values that one is brought up with. She must have been brought up in a religious family since when she sees how the husband is struggling to make ends meet, she visits the church secretly for help.

However, to help Celia with her language barrier issue, I should try and advise her on the importance of learning other languages as try to explore her surroundings and find a job she can be going to to help the husband. Celia should also get educated on her rights as a member of the United States. As a social worker, I should try and explain to her about the memorandum of agreement that was passed in the United States that authorizes individuals with language problems to be provided a language assistant even in courts to help them fight for their legal rights. Celia may, however, encounter some barriers if the community she comes from does not advocate for girl child education. Lack of money to enroll in a learning institution is also a barrier to her, given the social status of her family. The adoption process is unlikely also to be given to them due to their living standards.

On the other hand, Junior who is also struggling to get an education and sustain her family. Junior may look for governmental institutions that may be offering free education and through it achieve his goals. It is the right of every person to get an education to better their lives. My advice will be he should not give up on his goals since everything is achievable. He should fight for his legal right to education, and if things get worse, he should visit the department of education, which will aid him in fighting for his civil rights. The barrier he may experience is lack of enough time for the family since most of the time; he will be either at work or school. He may fail to concentrate fully on his education due to increased workload, but that should not deter him from achieving his goals. Hector should uphold his beliefs and identity and on the other hand, try as much as possible to be conversant with the current area of residence to learn and appreciate other people’s cultures.

Engage and welcome other families in the home, which will help share ideas. Hector should seek citizenship first to be able to enjoy full rights in the United States. With the green card, however, he was granted residency rights, which fail to include some of the rights a full citizen should enjoy. With citizenship, Hector will be able to enjoy the joy of working anywhere and insuring his health just as normal citizens.

Emilia is a young lady who has engage herself in drugs. She is, however, willing to quit them, but the fact that she is not a full citizen, some rights are denied to her. She is viewed as a person of no character who cannot be entrusted by any employer. Abortion she performed separated her from her family since the mother thinks it is uncouth to do so. Emilia’s brothers should try and explain the consequences of her actions to the parents since they are more educated on the matter. The family, instead of disowning her, should try as much as possible to embrace her and talk to her. Emily could take advantage of rehab institutions where she can go and helped fight her drug struggles. Than aborting, Emilia could be informed of other choices like taking the child to children home.

Vicki, on the other hand, has a problem with socializing. As a social worker, I can advise her to get help in therapy classes, which will help her fight her depression, problems to do with her family, and anxiety. Since the family is not well up enough to take their daughter in therapeutic training, they may consider taking her to group homes and rehabilitation centers where she can be helped overcome her situations. Since there are no resources in her community, Vicki could be encouraged to participate more in class, which will help boost her self-esteem. Gloria is experiencing some violence in her home where the husband beats her regularly, and the reason may be because she has no job as well as she is less educated. To help Gloria, I can connect her with community-based resources, which will help improve her health conditions. Leo, the husband, should be taken action upon since it is illegal to violate a woman.

Alejandro Sanchez has a problem of wanting to keep his interests within him due to his antisocial nature; he is not satisfied with his current job despite it earning him a decent income. He has problems with his health. To help him, Alejandro needs to visit a counselor who will help him overcome his fears. According to how he is raised, Alejandro believes that children are raised to succeed and help out their parents, and that is why he puts their interest before his. Carmen Sanchez has hearing problems and needs to join college. The family has no money to send her to college and to support her. As a social worker, Carmel can be advised on the chances of applying for scholarship programs, which will help cater to his education. If Carmen gets the scholarship, the family who spends a lot of their money to cater to her needs will ease the burden. Joey, Emilia’s son, faces some adoption problems where the mother thinks she should keep her baby, but the grandparents think they should adopt the child since they will be able to provide him a better life than what the mother is offering him. However, the grandparents need to make sure they follow the right procedures and prove worth of adopting the child. The grandparents need to prove also they are stable financially to be able to accommodate another person. The presence of Roberto, however, poses some warranted concerns since they struggle much to meet every child’s needs. Roberto is in the country illegally, so when the state learns that, they might be in great trouble. Roberto, Sanchez’s children’s cousin, needs to apply for naturalization and follow the required steps to become a full citizen. If he was from Cuba, he would be taken as a refugee and at least enjoy some services such as health care services.

While interacting with the Sanchez family, many processes were found incomplete like, for instance, they needed to apply for citizenship, which they are yet to. The mother also needs to be well conversant with the English language for her to become a full citizen. They, therefore, need to perform all the recommended tasks for them to fully enjoy citizenship favors such as medical, pension, and freedom to acquire a better job.
