Scafell Pike Mountain, a Pinnacle termed as the highest in England, carries the glowing face of England. The surrounding aura consists of high fells which open to the southern part of this forest. The scenery is evocatively leaving a permanent nostalgia of another expedition. A climbing session means you can use several routes that are easily accessible. There is also easy access to the surrounding fells with several walking routes.

It is on an early sizzling Sunday morning, the day we have planned on our expedition. The morning sun is scorching being in summer. There is an intermittent gust of wind evoking long chains of dust upwards. Based on the radiance on my colleagues’ faces, the scenery is already beginning to be fascinating. Our expectations are higher than the peak of our journey. The peripherals of the forest area covered by thick tall grass, amidst small path meandering everywhere. The paths denote the presence of life of all varieties of animals that exist in this ecosystem.

A shrill dreadful voice is heard from behind. An atmosphere of awe culminates instantly. I turn back to see where the voice is coming from. To my surprise, I find my colleague writhing in agony! He almost touches a green mamba while supporting himself on a young Acacia tree. The green mamba is a venomous species majorly found in this forest. Its arboreal nature makes it elusive, rarely seen. Though we are very frightened, the sight of it is fascinating. We take some pictures of this beautiful creature despite our fear.

The lush green under growths welcomes us to the exterior parts of the forest.  Scafell Pike Mountain is a labyrinth. The indigenous trees are tall and enormous. As we progress into the forest, a deafening silence takes the aura. Any light hardly penetrates the thick canopy formed by dense leaves on top. The silence is frequently broken by roaring, granting, chattering, chirping, and the barking of various animals and birds. The sounds invoke a feeling of reverie in us. We yearn to see some of these animals. However, our tour guide tells us that we can hardly see them until we get out of the dense part of the forest.

A thunderous roar halts our journey. A humongous, muscular, barrel-chested lion blocks our way. Its manes are marked in clear outline, eyes exposing a fierce demeanor. The sight of this animal is scary as well as fascinating. We take quick snaps of this amazing animal. Our tour guide quickly explains that despite its ferocious look, it rarely harms if not disturbed (Stott, 2019). The expedition guide plays strange antics and the lion goes back to the forest. We then proceed with our awe-inspired yet alluring journey.

The forest becomes less dense and lively. Several animals emerge from the deep forest to this particular part of the forest. We see a cackle of hyena chasing after a masculine cheetah holding a carcass of an unknown animal. The laughter of the hyenas creates a beautiful echo in the forest. The hyenas finally manage to take the carcass from the cheetah and within a flash, they tear it among themselves. They scatter, laughing in utter satisfaction!

On one side, a group of scared gazelles is nearby staring at the whole ordeal, perhaps one of their own. On the opposite side, a mile away, a memory elephant is feeding on green leaves. They are enormous. The biggest among them is the size of a traditional round mud-walled and grass-thatched African hut. The young ones equate an average mature bull. They all look peaceful while feeding together.

We see a variety of birds. Some with sharp-hooked shaped beaks and others with sharp piercing beaks. Some have bright colors and spotty dots on their feathers providing a thrilling luster. The sparkling look blends with the flourishing nature creating a beautiful picturesque of the forest. Their soothing melodious chirping creates a rhythmic music of the forest.

The forest ascends slowly the steep and rocky slopes of Scafell Pike. The higher we climb, the forest fades slowly leaving only a few trees and short shrubs growing between the rocks. The slopes have an impressive look. They are covered by immense layers of snow gravitating into small streams that descend from this mountain. The slopes offer a cool visual of dense forest below the continuous series of valleys and ridges covering the entire land. The flow of rivers meandering across the vast land completes the aesthetic beauty of Scafell Pike Mountain. The slopes are slippery because of snow. The place is cold hence to proceed to the peak, we have to proceed to the peak, and we have to wear special gear. Our tour guide tells us it would take approximately 24 hours to reach the peak.

Oops! We are shocked by that revelation. Hunger, thirst, and exhaustion have culminated in our hiking. The thought of climbing any further sends a strong warning of impending catastrophe likely to hit these adventurers. For a moment we stood still. The clean moist air gave us a feeling of relief. A relief of triumph. We shouted and only to hear echoes of our voices downhill mimicking us. The travel guide was quick to precaution us against attracting attention from the wild animals. We opted to trek back. We have not reached the peak, however, the adventure has been an ecstasy.

It is a profoundly sensational expedition. Everything is revolving around this re-known tourist destination. The lush green forest, the fascinating wild animals infested Savannah grasslands, as well as the snowy and rocky slopes. There is also an amazing surrounding fell as well as the beautifully flowing streams which fascinate the mind.  The height of the slopes feeds the eye with the beautiful scenery beyond which is tastefully created. The end of the adventure marks a new yearning for a revisit. What a thrilling day! Nature is beauty, beauty is joy.
