Scholarship Application

There have been a number of experiences which I have gained so far as a nursing student. For instance, I have typically applied the knowledge which I have gained in and beyond the classroom to help many people in the society with different conditions and problems ranging from health conditions, and family problems. Another experience which I have gained was when I worked as a flight attendant. I had a flight when two patients were nearly dying, one was going for cardiac arrest, and another older woman had extremely high blood pressure. I was the chief flight attendant on board, and there was no medical officer or staff among the passengers to help the situation. So I used all my knowledge to save them, and they both made it until we landed. Also, I have interacted with nurses as my mentors; hence, this has helped me improve and build on my knowledge and skills as a nursing student. The experience has made me feel more connected with people and being able to dig deeper into my career.

Secondly, I am ambitious about live-saving, employing my skills and knowledge that I have acquired in the process of learning as well as life experience. Moreover, my main goal is to achieve the best award as a competent nurse in my career. Notably, my motivation is to work with colleagues and maintain a good relationship and to give my best in whatever duty I am called upon to handle. Also, I want patients to feel loved and cared for in every situation, such as a suffering situation or a dying situation. I want suffering patients to feel the comfort of a compassionate presence and help them think of things that can bring meaning in their lives as well. In addition, whenever I attend to the sick, I don’t want them to think that it could be someone careless with the duty assigned; instead, I want to make them feel that they are in good hands and to give a sense of hope and courage beyond the illness and suffering. Due to my love for diligence and strive for perfection, I want my work to always serve as an example in society.

On the other hand, there are a number of events which has marked my transition more so from childhood to adulthood within my family. For instance, my toddler son; hence, the experience has made me grow up and become mature to work extra hard to fulfil the needs of the young one. I have also grown up to support my older non- working parent. The family looks up unto me since, as per my culture, it’s my duty and obligation to work hard and to take care of the community and the family after my studies. I hope to bring change in their lives too.

In addition, I had moved a step ahead from my childhood when I came to a point I can carry out community service work and duties, take care of patients in their home environment. The results were successful, and I ended up receiving calls and visits from patients.

Due to these, I am in need of a scholarship to take care of my toddler son and financially support my older non-working parent as a result of a high dependency ratio. Thus, I seek the possible means to balance the financially disadvantages family and dilute the impact of a high dependency ratio on the current situation in hand. In the essence of assistance for medical services, it is my passion for being granted help. In the case of motivation and other avenues of talk, I want to be forefront. I want to be helpful and bring hope to the lives of the society.
