The structure of an article plays an essential role in determining specific concepts that are assessed in the article. Every author ensures that they develop a title that provides a preview of what the article is about.  The article that forms the basis of evaluation, in this case, is the Charles Creighton Hazewell on British India highlight the two opposing ideologies that countries have based on their abilities. The headline of the article provides a review of the fact that every country condemns conquest, especially when they do not have power. However, when a country has power, they eagerly rush upon it. This statement is accurate and presents an emphasis on vital historical times. The article was published in 1857 in a November issue.

The article reviews one of the gloomiest year, 1757 in England. The country underwent a difficult period where they lost their supremacy powers to their rivals in all engagements. England was engaged in war with France. France and Austria were allies and enemies of England despite having prior enjoyed two century and a half. These countries were enjoined with a key purpose of crushing Frederic, an ally of England.  The Austrians defeated Frederic in June 1757. The author has outlined clearly the challenges that England faced within the year 1757 and the response (p.1).

The author Charles Creighton Hazewell had a considerable history in covering major historical events that shaped societal change integration, especially in England. His works were normally published in the Atlantic Monthly. British India is one of the two initial articles that were written and published by the Atlantic Monthly. His works have been hugely relevant even in modern society because they focused on deriving success on major elements that improve focus on key elements within the society. The intent of the British India work was aimed at understanding the complacency of the British forces to deal with its enemies.  England lost wars that it would have comfortably won had it prepared itself and respected its opponents.  Therefore the intent in writing is clear considering the diverse emphasis on different measures that promote the accurate history and reporting.

Content analysis

Some of the events that have been identified in the article include the allies and  British troops in other parts of the world. A Germany army that was being enumerated by the British and commanded Culloden was beaten and defeated in July. The timid nature of the English commanders led to man disasters that had a negative influence on the successful history of the English army and the level of preparedness.  In India, where the British had been largely in control, the English were engaged in a doubtful contest with the viceroy of Bengal. The Viceroy of Bengal was being supported by French (p.2).  The British navy that had been efficient over the years appeared shaky and vulnerable. The combined expedition against the Coast of France ended in ultimate failure. The level of organization highlights a greater emphasis on different approaches that help in shaping the level of engagement across different settings. Building a dominance requires the integration of better structures, something that the England army failed to do over the years.

The negativity was widespread that British people believed an author who published a highly controversial article proposing that British army was a race of cowards and scoundrels and that nothing could be done to salvage the situation because they were doomed to fail based on the structure that was being implemented at the time. They were at a point of being enslaved by their enemies. The previous major victories were forgotten and focus on adopting different strategies that would promote individual decision making.

However, it is also worth noting that it was during this time that there was the development of British India. The British India empire was compared with the Roman empire. The population of the Roman empire was estimated to be around 120,000,000 compared to the Indian, which was more than 150,000,000, although the Roman empire included different countries and races (p.3).

The British Indian Empire was associated with significant prejudice. The level of the organization did not emphasize on better approaches that helped in improving the level of emphasis on vital aspects that would help in protecting the empire. The political atmosphere in England was divided, considering that major players were focusing on their own decision making. The author has focused on the influence of the major players within the England political system such as Burke, Fox, Grey and Sheridan who were involved in the development of the Indian policy (p. 6). Protecting the course of England in the East was a priority, although the manner in which strategic measures were being implemented did not effectively consider the needs of individuals within the system. This means that there was no support from individuals within the empire.

The author has also identified that despite the efforts that were being put in place by different players within the England system, Individuals such as Pitt were guilty of gross injustice. Hastings is another individual who deserved more punishment because of his deeds. Understanding individuals who were responsible for wrong decisions present a clear emphasis on some of the strategies that England employed in improving its empire, especially in an attempt to control the influence of their enemies (p.8).

However, despite the organizational challenges, England established a successful empire in India. Every nation condemns conquest when they have no power to conquer others.  The conquest of England in India was condemned in many quarters although the strong influence that England had at the time played a major role in suppressing the majority of the dissenting opinions. Seizing the lands of other nations was one of the expansion strategies that countries employed during ancient times (p.9). It was only stronger nations that could manage to conquer others because it involved a lot of military strength. The decisions that were being undertaken at the time presented a stronger approach to better decisions that could have helped in improving the manner in which operations were being handled at the time.

Analysis

The article has presented some of the key operations and issues that England faced during the year 1757. This year was highly defining in the history of England since, despite numerous defeats, it was during this year that they completely developed an approach to build the England Empire in India. The comparison of the Indian Empire and the Roman empire was mainly associated to the fact that England had conquered India which is the same strategy that the Roman empire was using to expand its territory and develop a stronger influence on different decisions that were being undertaken.

A major issue that the author has sought to address has been the fact that nations condemn conquest despite being the primary expansion strategy that countries and expires were using to expand.  Condemning conquest is a common decision that has been associated with countries that have no power. Power creates a more diverse approach which can be utilized to improve individual wellbeing and decision making. Countries that have power are more likely to conquer the weaker countries with a key emphasis on improving their territory. Powerful countries utilize different expansion strategies based on the level of resistance as well as the relation that exist between the countries.

The article has been well organized and presents key points in a structured form which present a greater understanding of the major issues that were being addressed. The key elements that were being addressed in the article included the challenges that England faced in the year 1757 as well as their conquest of India which created different issues and condemnation considering that England had the capacity to achieve such development strategy (p.13). Thus these concepts present a well-organized and strong system that helps identify key changes that promote change in decision making, especially in situations where it is essential to focus on making the right decisions.

Thus the discussion provided in the article has helped understand the topic of the study, which is a key aspect that helps discuss the issues that were being assessed in the article. The ancient times required a high level of alertness and commitment to remain dominant. England was stunned by a series of losses which significantly destabilized their efficacy in dealing with enemies. The article has been efficient in addressing the research issue.
