I focused on choosing the emotional intelligence assessment, personality assessment, and the learning style assessment. The reason for selecting psychological intelligence assessment as it helps one identify how one gets to cope with self-development and self-management. The personality test was a preference to me since the nursing career entails interacting with people and hence the need to determine on how to recruit and develop people. The learning style assessment test will help resolve my levels of critique and the evaluation of the different concepts.
The results for Emotional Intelligence test were 61%, indicating that I am a reasonably skilled and can identify and express emotions in my self and other people. For the personality test, I am highly extraverted, and I am a bit more observant than intuitive, think a lot, judgmental and highly assertive on the abilities and decisions
Leadership style with relation to the philosophy of care
The leadership style that is most appealing to me is the democratic leadership style. This leadership mainly focuses on ensuring that all the employees are equal and are listened to every time even by their bosses to ensure that it is in the best interest of the organization. Nursing set up needs this set up as it entails the care of patients, and hence all stakeholder’s ideas are well listened and incorporated in the final decisions to make everything thrive.
What appeals to me in the democratic leadership style is that it tends to keep the conversations open at all times meaning individuals don’t feel secluded. The values of each individual are given a chance and respected more often compared to other styles. Democracy style of leadership focuses on the discussion and creates the confidence and the commitment that is needed and hence building a skilled team that is dedicated and has high levels of expertise. Application of the leadership style in health organization
The health organizations have different organization groups and various departments that provide a variety of specialties. The complexity in the system means that the various groups may end up in conflicts with each other. The need to have a democratic democracy means that diversity in the organization will be well incorporated Aand help to efficiently utilize the resources that are needed through negotiation that are democratic.
Every physician has a different approach to doing things for the patients. In health set up, decisions or procedures matter a lot in determining how effective a particular activity will be done. For instance, in case of an outbreak or a mass immunization, there is the need to involve all the stakeholders in giving their ideas on how to undertake the process for it to be efficient and capable enough to meet the required target. This makes the member feel more engaged in the task despite the fact the leader maintains the final say in the decision making.
Patients in the hospital should be listened to at all times to get to know their experience in the organization, the concerns, the needs and get regular feedbacks concerning the hospital. Democracy can be enhanced in a health facility with relation to errors that have been made, serious incidents and complaints, and problems that could have transpired. Knowledge, skills, and the diverse abilities of the health staff can be improved through democracy. This will result in ensuring that the quality of the patient’s health care is secure and creates a good patient experience. When nurses get to share their knowledge, high quality health care will be given creating the nature of having team efficiency and mutual supportiveness in the health organization
Areas of improvement and steps of improving
From the assessment, I need to change on the tactic I use to approach work, making plans, and the decision making. I am more judging than being prospecting, which is a hindrance to the performance of the health organization. I will take the initiative of ensuring that I get to listen to the staff before jumping into conclusions.
On the mindset, I am more of an introvert than an extrovert. I will make efforts to getting to interact with the environment of the health organization. With this, I will get to associate with all the staff making them not fear me wit its end product, making them feel comfortable with me. This will make them feel at ease sharing problems and get new ideas needed for improvement of the health organization.
The emotional intelligence perceived that I have emotional drains. I will make efforts to ensure that I get to read others, try to understand how they feel and try to effectively identify my emotions to ensure that I get to relate with them well.
