Self-Introduction Essay
My name is Christopher. I was born and raised in the Island of Oahu and joined the Hawaii Army National Guard on December 20 2003. I am currently a student at American Military/Public University finishing off my Bachelor’s in Information Technology. I currently have 90 credits and plan to obtain my degree by Fall of 2020. I have a gorgeous wife named Brenda and two beautiful daughters named Cassidy and Camille. In my civilian occupation I work as a Service Engineer for a data center located in Las Vegas, Nevada called Switch Nap 7. I want to become a Commissioned Officer because it was always a dream of mine since 2012 to become a trusted leader one day. I became an NCO in 2011 and since then I learned the importance of stepping up in becoming a personnel that could give out orders and most importantly follow orders. I have been on three deployments, Kuwait in 2004-2005, Iraq in 2008-2009, and Afghanistan 2019-2020. All three deployments have been a very humbling and learning experience. During my Afghanistan deployment, I enrolled in American Military University to take advantage on completing some courses in school. During my deployment I was able to complete 32 credits while doing my full time military occupation in Afghanistan. The thought of becoming a Commissioned Officer in the U.S. Army National Guard pops into my head everyday. Who do I talk to for more information? Am I doing enough courses to get my credits completed in a timely manner? Do I have what it takes to become a Commissioned Officer? All of these questions I bring up to my Platoon Leader and Battery Commander.
