“Sexual assault” is a common term in modern Campus life. The rates at which the vice continues to increase in contemporary campus life reflect the lapses in socio-psychological education on campus and the significant relationship between sexual victimization and socio-psychological factors. In reality, campus life has very substantial social consequences that are likely to increase the chances of a student facing sexual victimization. This has led to the [prevailing sentiments of “she or he asked for it” when investigations into the issue of sexual assault emerge. Although this is not a preferred direction for a campus to take, we dealing with issues of sexual assault, it underlines the problems associated with sexual victimization in college life. Therefore, it is necessary to discuss the impact of different harmful social activities on increasing the likeliness of becoming victims of social victimization. It is the view of this article that understanding these coherent social factors that increase the chances of sexual victimization can help researchers in developing functional sexual assault policies for colleges.

Traditional social lifestyle in college education has emerged as a significant factor that contributes to sexual harassment and assaults in the opinion of many sexual assault policy researchers. The freedom associated with college life is always new to students in campus life settings, and the temptation to go ever board with the newly acquired freedom is always overwhelming. During campus, students get involved in activities such as exploitation of sexual pleasure, romantic relationship, and the use of drugs which they did not enjoy in high school or under the protection of their parents. The new experiences come with consequences, and the increased risk of sexual assault is among the most significant impacts. These activities impair the ability to think clearly ad communicate effectively among campus students, hence the increased opportunities for sexual assault. The use of alcohol is one of the most common social activities in college lives. Many students who come to college having not tried alcohol consumption leave experienced in identifying different brands and knowing which brands are effective in getting you drunk. However, the most common influence of alcohol consumption in colleges is the increased desire for sexual pleasure and impaired judgment towards decisions concerning sexual issues (de Heer & Jones, 2017). This increases the likeliness of experiencing sexual assault and opportunities for assault perpetrators to take advantage of the situation. Another common social activity in college that increases the likeliness of experiencing sexual assault is binge drinking. Binge drinking occurs in groups and in the form of competition over who consumes more alcohol. Opportunities for sexual assault are very high and most likely in times of such activities since binge drinking involves the consumption of alcohol, which impairs judgment. Experimentation of sexual activities and drug abuse are also common factors that influence opportunities for sexual assault. In essence, experimentation of such activates encourages perpetrators of sexual violence to think that the victims are willing and enjoy sexual harassment. In many cases, girls in campus have become victims of sexual abuse y waking up in the morning only to find themselves used sexually. Other activities, such as unsupervised relationships, sexting, and internet pornography, are also significant factors that contribute to sexual harassment.

The sexual assault policy that this article proposes is to compel all college lectures to incorporate sexual assault awareness education into their curriculum. In essence, the policy aims to ensure that lecturers and college education administration into the management of the social life of students at their disposal. Although university lecturers can’t get involved in every aspect of student’s social life, this policy will help them educate their students on the impact of their social life on exposure to sexual assault (Dills, Fowler & Payne, 2016). The policy will help coordinate the efforts of prevention and response to sexual assault by engaging a multi-sector approach to the issue of sexual assault. Additionally, the policy also helps in the incorporation of prevention strategies into college education. The creation of awareness through education will help in the reduction of sexual assault in colleges by teaching students sexual responsibility.

Conclusion

Much of the sexual assault incidences in colleges are a result of the complicated social life that college life exposes students to. Additionally, female students are the most prevalent victims of sexual assault in colleges. This article has not only examined the social factors that contribute to sexual assault in colleges but has also provided policy proposals that can reduce sexual harassment incidences in schools. The policy that this article has provided focuses on the incorporation of sexual education into college lectures. The policy aims to ensure that sexual assault awareness is a priority for both students and lectures. This can help reduce the vice in colleges and ensure that students are aware of incidences and social life issues that can lead to sexual assault.
