The layout of a supermarket can be defined as the way the merchandise is arranged on shelves. From the supermarkets I have visited, I have noticed that most supermarkets prefer either a grid of circular layouts of a supermarket. I also noted a well-arranged store increases your urge to shop.

The layout of a retail store has a very crucial role in affecting the purchasing power of customers. A well-organized layout has the power to make a customer have impulse buying. How things are arranged in a store is not a coincidence, but everything is arranged to lure customers into buying it.

The following are the things I would Improve on the layout of my supermarket to increase greater customer satisfaction. First, I would make sure that all products are easily visible to all customers to reduce the hustle of looking for them as no one wants to be looking for merchandise. Increase Character merchandising can be defined as the method of using famous characters to advertise goods. This will mostly work on kids’ stuff as they are easily intrigued i.e., using cartoon characters to advertise toys.  Also, the arrangements of shelves can attract customers as the layout of the store should guide them around all sections of the supermarket and increase circulation as shelves should be arranged in a way that they control human traffic. I would also increase consumer convenience by placing complementary together to increase purchase. Customer convenience can also be increased by placing. Coordination is another critical principle I would put into mind i.e., fast selling goods (grab and go goods) should be placed near the entrance or exit to show customers that the store can be used as a convenient and quick way to get what you want. Flowers and also fresh produce should be placed near the entrance to give the vibe that the store sells fresh stuff.

Customer insights are the trends of human behavior that will be aimed to increase sales for the benefit of the sellers. The methods to be used to give customer insights include; Practical approaches to try and connect with customers; this is because market trends change over time. This can be done through empathy interviews so you can have a clear picture of what the customer needs. Observe customers’ living environment or standards to see what goods they use most and can afford. Pay close attention to see what sells most to be able to know the customers’ frame of mind and also what to restock. Study your competitors to know their strengths and weakness. This will help you to differentiate yourself in the industry, as knowing your competitors’ position will also help you know your position.
