The hypothesis of this research is that the Supplementary Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) reduces food insecurity. SNAP is indeed effective in using more money to buy food. This will adequately provide a household with food. SNAP is the program that is used to support children and families who experience economic hardship. It also shows that the price of food depends on the location and market groups. When there is lower the SNAP, the higher the food security, the higher the SNAP, the low the food insecurity.

The objective of the SNAP is to lower the cost of health care and improve health outcomes. It also assists the families in purchasing enough food and reduce the high rate of poverty. SNAP was also introduced as the primary source of nutrition. It supports an assist people with low income. In previous years, 42 million Americans with low income were helped with SNAP to afford a nutritious diet.

It provides low- wage working families, people with disabilities, and low –income seniors with nutritional support. About seventy percent of people who participate in the SNAP are families with children. Nearly a quarter are the people with disabilities who were the participants of the SNAP. People benefited where each was given $1.40 per meal in 2017.  This was a critical foundation of lifting people out of food insecurity and poverty.

Adverse health outcome is increased by food insecurity. This complicates people’s ability to manage diseases, which is associated with a higher cost of health care. The hypothesis is that full is a range of demographic and socioeconomic characteristics are the factors that affect health care cost and food security.  Food insecure households would likely spend more amounts in medical care than food-secure households. They always lack limited resources to purchase adequate food. Food insecure household always spends about 45% of their income on medical annually.

The data was collected based on people’s health watch. It was an ongoing surveillance study done in the clinical setting to find out economic hardship among the association. The data was collected to come out with the result that would solve the impending health problem of an individual. The analysis of the individual data came from the Survey of income participation program panel.

The time was allocated based on the types of questions and the topic area.

Economies of the region may be affected by the SNAP participation and benefits. These may cause an increase in the demand for goods and services. These may lead to an increase in earning, profits, and employment in the region. The SNAP has made people increase food consumption, which needs one to use more cash. The SNAP has increased agricultural production to the processing of food. This act as a relatively affects the economy of the region.

The econometric method is used to estimate the effects of changes in SNAP benefits or participation. There are three methods used, which include; ordinary least squares fixed effects(OLS-FE) regression model, spatial discontinuity (SD) regressing model, and Instrumental variables fixed effects (IV-FE) regression, model. In conclusion, the SNAP has reduced food insecurity with much percentage. It has also reduced the medical cost incurred when controlling such diseases brought by food insecurity. SNAP needs a place where the food supply is adequate to demonstrate to people the importance of food to the body.
