Question 1
People should deliver bad news in s systematic manner. The mode in which a person conveys bad news profoundly impacts the recipient. The method of delivery, however, depends on the nature of the news. Negative news ranges from breakups, losing jobs, finding out about chronic or terminal illness and even death of a close person. I will use a scenario of informing a person that they are terminally ill. In such a situation, the reporter should determine what the patient knows and find out if the patient wants to find anything else out. (Munjal, 2017). If the person agrees to receive information, the reporter should then pass the information in an empathic manner and allow room for reaction. When receiving negative messages, I would like the reporter to warn me before passing the information. In addition, the reporter should also give me room to decide whether I am ready to listen or not. Finally, amidst the delivery, the reporter should stop if I request this of them.

Social media is the most popular way of interaction between people all over the world. Communication occurs through writing messages, posting songs, videos and pictures. Some businesses owe their entire success to social media. An example is Fashion nova, which gained clientele by using celebrities to market their products. Other companies are also strictly online based and need to sell products through social media. Such businesses can not function without social media sites. Most people claim that social media has led to less human interaction. I strongly disagree with such sentiments because, in my opinion, people interact more now. I am always in communication with family members and friends as compared to before. I also have friends I have not seen for years. We manage to keep in touch via Instagram, Whatsapp and Skype. Introduction
Social media has gained popularity over the last couple of years. Initially, people perceived social media as a way for people to interact only. The first successful social media site created was MySpace, which became the most popular site in the United States in 2006. ( Edosomwan, Prakasan, Kouame, Watson, & Seymour, 2011). Facebook was founded in 2004 but managed to gain popularity in 2008 and overtook MySpace. Social media sites enhance businesses in many ways. The most common way is the use of advertisements. “Facebook ads began when Microsoft purchased rights to post international ads on Facebook.” (Edosomwan, et al., 2011). Other social media sites with millions or billions of users include; YouTube, Instagram, Twitter and Snapchat. Advertisements through these sites help in business growth. Social is also a significant channel for passing news.
Background
Social media is one of the most effective ways for people to access news. Currently, people prefer to access news online rather than buy newspapers or watch news segments at specified times. Before 2010, people debated on whether online news would substitute papers. (Newman, Dutton & Blank, 2014). By 2011, media outlets and newspaper companies began integrating into the digital market. Magazines also started providing online publications through their respective websites. The question of whether people can trust news provided in social media exists up to date. However, despite the issues raised, most news outlets had to adapt to using social media due to popularity. Therefore, most people receive news via social media. When looking through social media pages, a person can come across pages of major news outlets. Besides, people might also get personal and tragic information through social media. Despite several concerns on how people convey news on social media, people use it as the fastest way to spread the news.
Methodology
Social media is one of the most effective ways of spreading news. However, the legitimacy of news passed in social media is often questioned. Some news outlets also offer paid advertisements for businesses. “Research of internet credibility proved that online users are more sceptical of social media and online information.” (Mehrabi, Hassan, & Ali, 2009). However, in the recent past news outlets use social media more often to relay information to the world. Most people, therefore, receive information through social media. Interactions via Whatsapp are the most intimate since people pass information one-on-one. People also pass personal news, whether negative or positive, through Whatsapp. Social media accounts such as Twitter show users trending topics, which are most likely related to the news. Therefore, people hop into Twitter trends to market their products. The trending topic mostly emanates from social media users. In addition, some businesses and organizations prefer to advertise their products through news outlets with a high number of followers. Social media sites also offer paid advertisements to businesses.
Findings
Social media has users who provide false information on a day-to-day basis. Such users make people question the legitimacy or credibility of the news conveyed. In a practical example, people continuously relay incorrect information based on the ongoing coronavirus crisis. Due to the level of fear surrounding the disease, social media users will believe almost anything related to the disease. However, a study confirms that web information is more credible than social media and newspapers. ( Mehrabi, Hassan & Ali, 2009). On the other hand, a higher percentage of people trust news relayed via television channels more than social media. The cause of such perception is that news channels take time to gather facts before passing information to the people. Businesses prefer to use trustworthy sites for advertising their products. In addition, such sites have many followers. Overall, social media has immensely contributed to the growth of most businesses.
Conclusion
Social media is the most effective way to learn about the news. People can access social media sites easily through mobile phones and other electronic devices. Despite scepticism towards social media, people adapt to receiving positive or negative news through social media. Some news outlets also relay negative information without considering how people want to receive it. A practical example is the death of famous basketball star Kobe Bryant, alongside his daughter. TMZ was the first outlet to pass the information and received a lot of criticism. Some people claimed that the news outlet gave the information before close family and friends learned of the tragic news. Social media is also the most effective way to develop both small scale and large scale businesses. People can pay pages with a high number of followers to advertise their products. Furthermore, most social media sites offer paid advertisements that attract customers through impressions and reach.
