Introduction

Currently, social networks have gained different view and opinion from different people based on their perspectives on social network life. Most people believe social networking has a positive impact on their lives. Social networking help people connect with distanced friends and families and reduce loneliness. Other people view the negative side of social network such as wasting times while one should be actively engaging with others, causes cyberbullying, and distraction to working or learning environment. This paper provides the view of the various author concerning social network as well as my point of view.

According to Bruine de Bruin et al. (2020), the social network is formed by either neighbour, family member or close friends with a specific relationship or activities that bring them together. The authors focus on how the social network is created based on different age group and geographical location. According to Bruine de Bruin et al. (2020), the social network wellbeing of the group depends mostly on what brings the group together and their age restrictions in the group.

The authors conduct a longitudinal and cross-section design study on the relationship between social network and age. The research shows that an increase in age leads to a decrease in the social network (Bruine de Bruin et al., 2020). The social connection that brings people together tends to decrease as people age while young people tend to more involve social networking with friends and family members. The wellbeing of social connection tends to decrease as the age increases. The article focuses on national adult life span to determine the influence of age on social network size, the number of close family and friend with the association of social satisfaction and wellbeing of the social network.

According to Fan (2018), current changes in technology and increasing use of the internet in the world has completely changed the way people used to socialize. Most people are now active on social media and others just browsing to increase their social connection. Collective efficiency that brings people together is now based on information sharing, attitudes, personality, community involvement, and groups values (Fan, 2018). The article focuses more on behavioural influence in developing a social network with the integration of social networking sites and increased usages of the internet.

Chapter seven focus on various social networking site and how they connect multiple people and community using the latest advance technology and the internet. Rapid advancement in technology has completely changed the role of webpages and its no longer place to get information only but a place where people can socialize through shared knowledge and content connected through webpage application. Changes in webpage application have entirely changed the way people view the social network as one can just write anything with unlimited pages number and share the ideas with the rest of the world.

The social network is now built along with people with the same idea and interest through sharing of ideas, opinion, video, pictures, or recording through the web-based application. The chapter focus more on the revolutions of the webpage as social networking sites to web 2.0 application that include other sites such as social networking, tweeting, and blogging.

Social network group develop to increase social wellbeing of the member tend to last longer despite their ages rather than a social group formed on ages basis. Social group member tends to be more socially satisfied when they promote their social well being compared to when they promote the social number of closes friend and family they have in their circle. According to Bruine de Bruin et al. (2020), close friends and family member play an integral role in developing a social network. Social wellbeing and satisfaction depend on the relationship with close friends while it declines with ageing factor.

An individual has to understand the factor that makes people or community live in a social group for long. The technological revolution has brought a new error of socialization and developing a social network. Through the latest advancement of web 2.0 application have developed a new platform to increase social cohesion among people. Social networking through the online platform has become more accessible due to increase usage of the internet and advanced technology. Currently, people from a social group for sharing information and ideas through social media such as Facebook, Skype, Twitter, outlook, social bookmarking, email, Wiki, LinkedIn, and blogging. Online social networking is faced with significant problem misuse of space and cybering bullying, which is a significant threat to people’s privacy. Currently, cyberbullying has reported to major risk to people in the United States that would damage their reputation in the name of building a social network through social platforms.

Strong social networking is one developed with the same goal and objectives to bring people together no matter the platform, size of the group, or advanced technology. According to Bruine de Bruin et al. (2020), the social network is base of the quality of the relationship of the group members that bring them together rather than their number or closeness with friends. According to Fan (2018), strong social cohesion is developed by identifying the need and preference of others in the society that makes social group live for long.

The articles seem to disagree on various form of social networking and element used to bring people together in a social group. According to Fan (2018), the community is the foundation of any social network, and one must first establish the need and preference of the society to establish a strong social connection. Social cohesive and collective efficacy is based on how well a social group is handling society needs. According to Bruine de Bruin et al. (2020), strong social networking is one that involves physical interaction between members. Chapter seven focus on the online social forum for communication and danger associated with online interaction compared to physical interaction.

Point of View

Social networking has become part of our life, and one cannot deny the fact that social networking has evolved due to the latest technological change and the internet. Despite the variation in the method of the social network, the goal and objectives of social networking remain unchanged. The factor that brings people together and promotes social networking remain and play a vital role in the development of the social network.

I do believe social cohesiveness is the key to developing strong social network group that can last for long regardless of the age of the members or the platform used to develop the social group. The common ideas, opinion, or situation are the primary factor that results in a robust social network. People are connected through sharing a common belief that builds a strong relationship. There need to watch the changes in social networking due to new threat brought by increased use of the internet and advanced technology.

Conclusion

Long social networking depends on the quality of the relationship between group members, group cohesiveness, collective efficacy and common ideas that bring people together. Recently, the social network has experienced dramatic changes due to improved information technology and increased internet usage that have to bring a new form of social networking such as social media platform, wikis, blogging, and email. There need to watch the next generation of social networking to maintain the goal of social network and reduce threat associated with cyberbullying.
