Social work reading reflection
According to the National Association of Social workers’ website, several roles of social workers are evident. These include advocacy, educating, facilitating, or mediating, thereby protecting the dignity and worth of their clients. With regard to the impact of the coronavirus disease 2019, these social workers are concerned with the well-being of their clients and the community at large. NASW, for example, is advocating to ensure insurance coverage of teletherapy, they are also educating through the dissemination of accurate information from sources that can be trusted as prevention efforts against COVID-19. The level of practice exhibited range from macro to micro social work. Macrosocial work encompasses practices for both small and large communities, including advocacy, community-based education, among others (Gilbert, 2018). These are evident, for example, the free NASW webinars for educating people and the NASW 2020 National conference. The level of commitment exhibited is enormous. For example, the information related to COVID-19 is vast, which includes facts, news, preventive measures, and resources. This demonstrates a commitment to explore difficult issues and, at the same time, provide high-quality services to clients. To me, this kind of dedication is astounding. The efforts put towards educating people not only aim to provide information but also ensure the information is well understood—they for everybody from kids to the aged. For example, information on how to support kids and special populations during this COVID-19 crisis has been provided. This shows how social workers are much concerned with the well-being of others..
