As an engineer, my primary areas of interest circulate around software development. I am very inclined towards the pursuit of full-stack development. Ironically, I wasn’t as interested in coding back in my school days, but during my college tenure, I got the opportunity to learn about different languages such as C#, Python, CSS, Angular JS, and several other tools that have fascinated me ever since. Even though I have thoroughly enjoyed my experience at college, I firmly believe that one basic degree doesn’t suffice in the cut-throat competition today.

The value of a Master’s degree comes into light when I think about learning at a new level not only to survive the competition but also to be able to take my skills to a stage where I can harness them for proper use. Thus, I want to learn from an esteemed university where I can get a sound technical knowledge as well as adequate knowledge to understand cross-cultural mingling in various aspects of life. I would love to get to meet people from different parts of the world and learn with them all the same.

I did my primary and high school education from Chettinad Vidyashram with an average score of 88%. For my bachelor’s degree, I had the fortune of going to Sri Sairam Institute Of Technology. In my college years, I was able to learn a lot both on and off-campus. I would learn to code through my regular curriculum, but as I developed a more profound interest, I began learning python from different websites that offered hands-on experience at python coding. I also obtained coaching to learn the language to the best of my potential. Apart from python, I also learned C# through college lectures and other credible sources on the internet. Thus, I gained much expertise and as able to implement the same during my training at my workplace.

In my college tenure, I was able to have many sound technical experiences to simulate ideas that I could implement later on. For my final year projects, I was searched through several papers over the internet and elsewhere to find an exciting subject that I could innovate and present as a project. While doing so, I picked up an interest in robotics, which was another unraveling experience. I started learning embedded C language during my college days, which helped define several other project ventures that I took up later on.

My final college project was “INDEPENDENT PATIENT AUTOMATION SYSTEM USING LIVE HAND GESTURE AND SPEECH PROCESSING” and I presented a paper on the same. To describe a little about my innovation on the idea – Under this project, the patient automation system can control almost everything that is powered by electricity in hospitals using live gesture recognition. In this proposed model, the system uses a camera feed to detect the motion of the hand. This movement of the hand is compared with the stored gestures to find the closest match and performs the corresponding actions defined for this particular gesture detected.

This initiative was aimed at helping bedridden patients. For paralyzed patients, the system’s voice recognition controls appliances (fan, light, etc.) by closely monitoring the patient’s pronunciation using a microphone. Along with submitting this project in my final year, I was also able to participate in a competition named E-BAJA, where I, along with my teammates, recreated an electric car. In this project as an electronics engineer, my part was to generate codes for the rear lights and the on and off of the rear LED lights. This was a profound experience, even though we did not bag the prize.

I have been able to attend many workshops and technical symposiums. I participated in the symposium conducted by SSN College of Engineering, CEG Guindy, Valliammai College of Engineering, and eventually, I won the first place in the symposium conducted by SSN College of Engineering in the event ‘Technical Connections’. I have been to a workshop conducted in CEG on VR. I have also attended workshops conducted by Lema Labs on the line follower, where I have been able to complete 2 levels in the making of robots.

There are some seminars that I have presented during my college years. I have presented a seminar on Schrodinger’s Wave Equation during the first year of my college. I also presented a seminar on Triggers in the SQL.

During the second year of my college, I got the opportunity to visit “Pace Power Systems Pvt Ltd,” which is a company located in Bangalore. They work on the systems that control the transmission lines. They also work with the telecom department. During our week’s visit to this company, we learned how the telecom division works in much detail. I was also able to give a presentation of my understanding at the end of the internship.

After my graduation, I joined TCS on 25-09-2017. Initially, I was trained in .NET, where I learned C# and SQL in detail. With this knowledge, I stepped into the ASP.NET framework and also learned the MVC architecture. I learned not only about the back end functionalities but was also trained to develop UI using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. I was also trained in the basics of angular JS. After that, I took a plunge into studying python. With the help of all these, I was able to construct a banking website as a project during the training, and it was a success. I was given a posting for a technical support project where I was in charge of maintaining the database with all the SQL knowledge I gained during my training. In this project, I worked on an agile platform with the integration of DevOps, which involved CI/CD (Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment). Initially, I was an Assistant System Engineer, after which I got promoted to System Engineer, which is my current role at the company.

Other than my technical and academic ventures, I am also an avid fitness freak. I have participated in many extracurricular activities both in college and later on. I love to play anything that offers some extensive workout.I enjoy playing cricket and love to hear some good music.

I have been in the department cricket team for 3 years, and I was also once the captain of my team. I played for a club called VBCA and have been enjoying the sport for more than 7 years now. I also love to sing. With this talent, I went to a sloka chanting competition, and I bagged the second prize. I won the first prize for singing in All India Radio, Anna University. I also play badminton. Off late, I have taken an interest in cooking, which stands to be a growing passion.

There have been some hardships in my ride, just like everyone else’s. I would mention a small incident that made a lasting impact on me. A bike accident in the middle of going to college really gave me a new perspective to life. I had a deep cut in my leg, which left me unable to attend college for over 3 months. This period was one of introspection and struggle for me. I had to appear for the semester exams directly with self-preparation, which needed a lot of hard work. Thankfully, I was able to clear the semester successfully; but this time, I spent on my own taught me a lot.

Up until now, I have worked only in one company. I joined TCS in the year 2017, and till now, I have been able to retain my position in the company. I used to be a very laconic person and only have become more social going to the office, along with the several other skills I have imbibed from different people. I have become more open to newer ideas and have acquired the ability to think out of the box more often.

Armed with my experience from work and skills learned over these years I want to widen my spectrum by pursuing a Master’s degree in _________________ from _______________ University. My specific fields of interest include __________________________.

My short term career plan is to secure a postgraduate degree from a well reputed university, taking a plunge into another country to expand my horizon. My long term goal is to work as a developer in a good company in my country and contribute something to my nation with the skills I will have acquired.

All the knowledge that I have gained from my undergraduate studies is not enough to know the nuances present in the industries. As I pursue my postgraduate degree, I will know the nuances of many industries, and thus it will be beneficial for me. Armed with this knowledge, I will be able to use it wisely to develop the tech horizon in my country. Thus, it will be an honor for me to have the opportunity to learn and hone my skills in a good environment that I will be very grateful to have.
